Google released a report called "Understanding the Modern Gamer", an analysis of how gamers are using Google to scour the internet for gaming related news.
There are many interesting nuggets in the report, including these:
- Searches per gamer have increased 20% year over year, 168% for searches on mobile devices.
- 4 in 10 searches occur in the 6 months prior to a game's release.
- 27% of searches for game tips occur on a mobile device.
- Clicks on Google AdWords ads predict up to 84% of a game's eventual sales.
