The second major press-conference of this year’s E3 was Electronic Arts’ and they came out firing with most of the big guns on hand and some surprises too. Read on for a play by play of the proceedings.

The conference opened with probably one of the most radical sequel ideas ever, Plants VS. Zombies: Garden Warfare. A third person shooter inspired by Popcap’s original garden defense game and powered by the Frostbite 3 engine. Surprisingly, it doesn’t look half bad and is definitely something I will be checking out on the show floor.

They then followed it up by presenting a short teaser for a highly requested title, a new installment in the Star Wars: Battlefront universe. But that’s all we know for now.

They then dove right into a live demo of Need for Speed: Rivals featuring Smartglass integration. The game featured very pretty visuals and will also tie into the new Need for Speed movie which is releasing next spring.

Dragon’s Age: Inquisition then got a very snazzy trailer. Not much else was shown for the game but it is releasing in Fall of 2014, so look forward to BioWare’s latest epic.

Next up! EA wants you to know that they love sports and they don’t care who knows, from shooting hoops (NBA Live 14) to the Superbowl (Madden NFL 25). Going forward all EA Sports games will be powered by EA Sports Ignite, a new player interaction engine that makes your computer opponents feel more like human athletes.

EA saved their biggest reveal for last, showing off the first trailer for Mirror’s Edge 2. Nothing else is known about the game right now except that we can expect to hear more ‘when it’s ready’.

After the dust has settled what do you think of EA’s press conference? Let us know in the comments below!
