Sony Announces Next God of War - News

Santa Monica Studio's Creative Director Cory Barlog answering questions at Sony's PlayStation Experience was asked if the next God of War game was in development. He did say the studio is working on the God of War game, according to IGN.
He didn't say much about the game, but it is not a prequel. He also did not say if the protagonist Kratos was returning. More information for the game won't be revealed for another year or two.
