The 3DS has seen a boost in sales this week in Japan as it sells 56,973 units, according to the latest Famitsu sales charts. The bump in hardware sales was due to the release of the exclusive Yokai Watch 2 which had one of the biggest openings for the 3DS in Japan.

Yokai Watch 2 has managed to top more than one million units, selling 1.28 million units. The game launched on July 10th and the four days it has been on sale has sold more than the original has sold lifetime. The game also comes in two editions, Ganso and Honke.

Yokai Watch 2 was developed and published by Level-5 and is an RPG exclusive to the 3DS. The game is currently only available in Japan, but Level-5 is looking at a possible Western release.
