Gears of War: Judgment (X360) > Opinions (35)

nugget posted 10/06/2014, 03:48
Saw this at Game Traders. Cheaper than Game Stop. Still a little over priced. I'll probably get it this weekend.:b

Well I hope this at least inches its way to 2 million. They should release a version that includes all the map packs.

@Mr Puggsly - I see your point but still. Halo is almost half year old game while Gears of war: Judgment is just few weeks old. They are both big franchises. This week Halo 4 actually outsold Gears. Interesting.

@ Kizmi - Halo 4 is an awesome game that continues the Halo saga.

Gears of War: Judgement is a prequel with a fun campaign. But doesn't continue the story and has a stripped down multiplayer.

I like it. Good, fast, close, quarter combat. My son and I are about 3/4 through the first campaign and we enjoy the co-op game play. The stories in Gears of War started to drop right before the final boss in Gears 2. I would rank the games Gears 1 (hardcore) best, then Gears 2 (except final boss, which sucked, but the "and one b*tch *ss Queen" line is the best in the series), Gears Judgement (so far), then Gears 3. The council gamers community has become pretty hostile and critical, which will probably start to drive developers out of it, and more into Android and Apple apps.

actually people aren't buying the same game even if they are fans.
i mean God of War has the same mechanic nothing change that's why Ascension sell poor compare to God of War 3.

now onto Gears of War, same shooting mechanic and same gameplay, barely anything change, same bulky characters without Marcus Fenix.
GeoW: Judgment sell poor compare to Gears of War 3 because it's the same as GoW: Ascension sell poor compare to God of War 3.

i didn't buy GoWA because it's just a dumb prequel to GoW1 but Kratos was alreadya ghost of sparta wtf? should have made Kratos being human and fighting the barbarian king and how he lose before he Ares give him power.

GeoW: Judgement was the same crappy shooting game i have play since 2008, seriously, it's a different game but play the same. i was hoping for something new.

These walls need an edit button. I meant to say...

"I'm not sure why you're commenting on this board since you DON'T actually care about Gears Judgement"

@ Zekkyou - And its remarkable how my original comment was reason enough to call me a fanboy.

I said I was glad Judgement had a better opening because I didn't want to hear Sony fans boasting. But I was wrong, they are now or were all over the boards boasting about percentages.

You aren't just an owner of a Sony game console, you're clearly bias. I'm not sure why you're commenting on this board since you actually care about Gears Judgement. I actually own both PS3 and 360. I played through both GoW:A and Gears Judgment. But apparently I'm the crazed fanboy.

@Puggsly *sigh* I'm not a "sony fan". You would be correct to assume I own a playstation, but it may surprise you to learn I did not spend my childhood playing games on a high end gaming rig -_- As I child I played on a PS2 and so when the time came for me to chose either an xbox or ps3 for the multi plat games I could't get on PC, I chose a ps3, since it also came with the series from my children (such as ratchet and clank).

I couldn't give a flying fuck about Sony. I don't even own 3 of the games in my banner (like Killzone 3. I do own the second game but found it terribly dull so never bothered with the 3rd...), they just looked nice in my sig :P

If I saw this same situation with a playsation game my remarks would be the same. In fact they have been with GoW:A, just to a lesser extent since it's scale is smaller.

It's remarkable how owning a console these days immediately makes you a fan of a damn cooperate entity...

Mr Puggsly posted 03/04/2013, 01:18
@ Zekkyou - Bullshit, I saw you your sig. You're a Sony fan. You're just trying to sound unbiased. Nobody is buying your crap, its obvious what you're doing.

Week 1 sales were low compared to gears 3 as it only had 1 day on sale of it's first week. Gears 3 had 3 days in comparison. You will find it has a very strong week 2 because of this I think JUDGEMENT is better made after week 2 to see how it is doing ! I bought it in week 2 and it was the last copy in store.

Zekkyou posted 02/04/2013, 06:45
@ironmanDX I was comparing the % drop of sales between their 3rd game and their spinoff/prequel game, not the amount it dropped but the %, so the comparison was fair. (Though I'd like to add halo is far from the highest selling exclusive this gen lol...).

I am not "coming onto a 360 game and talking shit" I am pointing out the poor sales of this game. I did the same thing with God of War: A, because both games have simply sold poorly. I'm not exclusively banging either console. I'm a PC gamer, I laugh at the lot of you equally :P

ironmanDX posted 02/04/2013, 09:12
Comparing Gears to halo? The top selling exclusive this gen? Judgement has had no ads were I'm from. I don't see how this is a failing opening week at all. How many Sony exclusives sold anything last year or have you already forgotten? I'm pretty sure 1 exclusive in halo 4 demolished them all by itself yet we don't crap on about that. Don't come on to a 360 game and talk shit.... Seriously, you must have other things to do.

BTW good game, I like the optional declassified missions and Overrun is insanely fun. It well keep my interest till the next game as intended.

ODST had a massive marketing campaign. It was treated as a major release and I feel there was a lot of confusion about what it was. Maybe if they did the same for this game it might have had a 2 million opening. Who knows?

You keep calling me a fanboy but the funny thing I didn't make any fanboy comments. Its obvious you're a Sony fan and that's why my original comment upset you. You're so god damn sensitive, its pitiful.

Zekkyou posted 02/04/2013, 04:32
Very well then Puggsly, how about we use Halo as an example? :) I would say ODST is comparable to Judgement. It was released after the conclusion of the original trilogy, it takes place prior to the final events of the series and follows a new protagonist. In addition, according to HLTB, they are both around the same length, so all the comparison boxes are checked.

So did we see a 390% drop? Nope, about 42%. It would certainly be true to say Judgement had less advertisement than ODST, but blaming it for a 9 times harsher drop? That would be rather desperate.

Anyway I'm done arguing with you Puggsly. I have little time for you console fanboys. Especially those who align themselves to one of two almost identical consoles ¬_¬

@ bouzane - The fans, not the product. Silly goose.

I'm happy with the Gears. It gave me what I wanted, an excuse to play more Gears. I'm enjoying the campaign and multiplayer. Co-op campaign is also a blast with this more fast paced gameplay.

@ Zekkyou - Oh you... Heart of the Swarm continues the story of the last game. Your comparison is a fail and you're the one, "spouting off rubbish."

Perhaps you prefer the term stand alone expansion? Eitherway, its clear people were very excited to see how the Gears of War saga ended. Gears 3 ranks high in best openings ever. Don't be surprised if significantly less people care about a game that doesn't move the story forward.

Puggsly brings up and then craps on a Sony product? Now there's a shocker!

It's a shame about how they mishandled both the campaign and multiplayer, I was looking forward to this :`(

Zekkyou posted 01/04/2013, 07:57
If you think it being "basically an expansion" (which I disagree with) is a good enough reason to explain a 390% drop, then I think you are rather delusional. Heart of the Swarm (which I might add is an ACTUAL expansion as it requires ownerership of the previous game to buy) had a drop of 225% from the previous game in it's opening week (for physical copies) . So don't go spouting off rubbish.

Mr Puggsly posted 01/04/2013, 06:32
You guys don't know what you're talking about. This is basically an expansion. It recycles resources from Gears 3 and the campaigns are just side stories.

If there was any desire for this to perform at par with Gears 3 there would have been significantly more advertising. It was just another release to keep fans interested in the series, its not the next big game of the franchise.

Zekkyou posted 01/04/2013, 02:59
Too be honest Puggsly I'm not sure this could be considered a "good opening" :/ It's certainly good from a general view, but when you consider that this is an almost 390% drop from Gears of War 3 (compared to about a 185% drop with God of War) I don't think it can really be considered good. We will just have to see how both of them do over the next few months (Though I believe Gears will finish higher than God of War, it being a larger franchise)

Good opening. Glad it did better than GoW:A and with less hype. I wasn't in the mood to hear God of War fans spin this as a failure.

No marketing and no hype and it still sells good. I would have expected God of war to have a bigger opening with how much hype and marketing muscle Sony put behind it.

Before I start this review I would like to that say that I am a gears of war fan. Now This game not only fucked up the gears multiplayer formula by making it call of duty friendly (or fast pace as the dumb fucks at people can fly like to call it.) but the Judgement Campaign was also a terrible arcade style piece of crap that left out any plot what so ever and on top of all that 95% of all the cutscenes were of opening up doors to the next arcade section. the only saving grace to this game was the aftermath campaign (which was the only piece of content developed by epic) which had some pretty badass set pieces but other than that this game felt at best felt like a DLC to gears 3 and at worst a imposter amoung gears 1-3. 5/10.
