Just finished ps2 Tales of Abyss before starting this. The nunchuck works extremely well for an active battle system like TOS here.. storyline not so much...so I guess it about evens out.
b00moscone (on 09 March 2016)
On its own, a pretty solid game, but doesn't quite live up to Tales of Symphonia imo.
atma998 (on 30 January 2014)
Finally managed to reach 500k! Guess I was wrong 3 years ago :)
itachi-89 (on 04 March 2011)
the others sale are 100-150k so its good for a low budget tales game, so namco cant complain, they always release the wrong tales games in west, so i hope the fans and hardcore players buy tales of graces F, so namco continue to release tales games in west. its our last chance. i have the wii version of graces and i am going to buy the us and the others
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 27 February 2011)
game quality is not even close to ToS, but still a great game
DarkBahamut87 (on 20 February 2011)
Why Europe is not reported?
Jaffar Sholva (on 11 February 2011)
it was released in europe too, so it should have already sold half a million
atma998 (on 22 January 2011)
Not even selling 0.5k/week, I guess the game won't reach 0.5M after all. Now at 0.43M
Conegamer (on 07 January 2011)
I'm getting this game, hope its good...
tehsage (on 29 December 2010)
This game was a lot of fun. I don't care what anyone else says.
tehsage (on 29 December 2010)
This game was a lot of fun. I don't care what anyone else says.
sorento (on 14 May 2010)
maybe 50 K to 80 K in other.

dark_gh0st_b0y (on 08 May 2010)
i prefer the huge world of ToS as well

nice sales if you add Europe, should be above 0.50
Kihniö (on 07 May 2010)
Towards to the end game gets better..!!
kanjitech18 (on 18 March 2010)
So with Others, what would this game be at in sales? I would hope it would be over 500k but Tales of Vesperia didn't do that well in Europe. Granted there were various factors that hurt potential sales, I'm still worried.
Tuulikk (on 05 March 2010)
With Others, this game should be at over 500k.
novasonic (on 04 March 2010)
Nice, this and Muramasa got a good boost from those Japanese re-releases!
PlayerX (on 25 February 2010)
Best RPG this gen.
oni-link (on 01 February 2010)
Soriku (on 14 January 2010)

I got it from an the last NPD thread on GAF. The cowgirl is from Sakura Wars V.
oni-link (on 11 January 2010)
hey soriku, how'd you get the NPD total lifetime #'s? Is there a link that you can give me so I can scope a couple of games as well? Also, what anime/game is that cowgirl and other anime characters in your profile from? It looks interesting and cool!
oni-link (on 06 January 2010)
probably sold 500K with Others I'm certainly sure of it!!! C'mon VGC I need track this game in Others and prove me right!!! :D
Son1x (on 27 December 2009)
I still don't understand why it isn't tracked in Europe.
I mean Tales of Vesperia is tracked. And even MagnaCarta 2 and Persona 4 (which sold pretty low there) are/were tracked.
ToS2 sales can't be that bad...
Kihniö (on 25 December 2009)
Got it for Christmas..Yeah
Chrizum (on 24 December 2009)
You're right, I mixed them up. America is overtracked, but with Others sales the total should still be fairly accurate.
Soriku (on 24 December 2009)
It isn't overtracked in Japan. It sold 212k in Japan according to Famitsu. It got a little downward adjustment in Japan as a result. NPD has it at 130k though.

Wish EU numbers would be up.
Chrizum (on 24 December 2009)
Adjusted down! (but still overtracked in Japan)
alvarito (on 18 December 2009)
got my copy today in spain, where the others sales??
novasonic (on 16 December 2009)
I think a lot of people would agree that Emil ruined the game..
XA3 (on 10 December 2009)
Other sales????
Soriku (on 06 December 2009)
Hey, it sold 3k this week, up from 1k.
z101 (on 05 December 2009)
Emil is not an "dislikable". It is refreshing to have such an other kind of hero in an JRPG. He is much more believeable than Lloyd.
c0rd (on 29 November 2009)
So, I finally finished the game via Youtube since I didn't have the patience to play through it.

The game does get better later on. Still, it's a huge mistake to have such a dislikable character right off the bat. I hope I never have to deal with an "Emil-like" main character again.

Also, it sucks this had to be a budget title. It reminded me how awesome the original ToS was, I love the characters... too bad nearly all their voices had to change here. Thankfully Collette didn't change, I couldn't imagine her with a different voice!
Kihniö (on 28 November 2009)
And won´t be coming, you can count on that.
Once again game that isn´t tracked in Others.
Arfen (on 27 November 2009)
.. No others sales yet???
Soriku (on 25 November 2009)
I didn't decide to put it in. It was directly from the article that I got the info from.

That was back in FEBRUARY, get over yourself.
Egghead (on 25 November 2009)
Well if you dont have an agenda as a VGC Admins with that comment, how can i have an agenda?

Im just disproving what you said, which like i said had no place in the article but you still decided to put in.
Son1x (on 24 November 2009)
Of course you know which game I like better...
Soriku (on 24 November 2009)
Yeah, I'm sure continued trolling against Wii games and not just this game is absolutely convincing that you don't have an agenda. Right.

Ignoring you (which is pretty much what everyone does), where are the sales?
Egghead (on 23 November 2009)
Oh no, im just here to mention it, i havent got an agenda.

I mean what kind of example would that be setting showing i have some form of preference for another system?
Soriku (on 23 November 2009)

Huh? But it did. Did you bother checking sales last year when DotNW really did beat ToV? Probably not.
Egghead (on 22 November 2009)
@ Son1x

Are you kidding me ToS was infinitely better game.
Egghead (on 22 November 2009)

"The Wii follow-up to Gamecube's most cherished RPG outsold the higher-budget, 360 title Tales of Vesperia in all other territories last year."

Just like somebody 'interestingly' threw this in into a news story, id also like to mention that its not true, 'interestingly' too.
Son1x (on 21 November 2009)
Finished with Good Ending. I have to say I liked it despite few flaws it had. I prefer it over its prequel.
z101 (on 21 November 2009)
This game is great!
Son1x (on 19 November 2009)
Maybe we will get them next week since this week was only UK and 2 days.
Son1x (on 19 November 2009)
Bah, no European numbers...
TheConduit (on 17 November 2009)
Tales of Graces Japan estimates
:200-260k / 230-290k
I hope Tales of Graces can pass the one million mark
Arfen (on 15 November 2009)
PD: I can't add this game to my collection... why?
Arfen (on 15 November 2009)
I work in a videogame shop and I can tell you this game is selling well by now.
hiska-kun (on 15 November 2009)
+1 in others. My copy!
Soriku (on 15 November 2009)
Should sell ~450kish at the end.
Chrizum (on 13 November 2009)
Sales turned out okay for this one.
Soriku (on 12 November 2009)

lol, pretty terrible decision.
Metallicube (on 11 November 2009)
I actually bought this game and sold it pretty much right after, without playing it. I was a huge fan of ToS on Gamecube, but the reviews, and the fact that it's a spinoff just completely killed all hype I had for this game. Now I kinda regret selling it.. Maybe I'll wait till it's really cheap and I'll pick it up again.
Kihniö (on 09 November 2009)
Pal boxart looks very nice..
oni-link (on 01 November 2009)
I agree with coona, and it's obvious that they reused the same engine that ran the first Tales of Symphonia. I wouldn't be suprised if they made a profit even when they didn't even sell at 100k level!!!
coonana (on 26 October 2009)
this game is very low budget
Son1x (on 16 October 2009)
But seriously, like Soriku said, you're comparing a low-budged spin-off to a Tales main title.
Rawnchie14 (on 16 October 2009)
@ Son1x

LOL @ people who are going to pay full price for this archaic game in EU. Trust me, the wait was not worth it.
Soriku (on 15 October 2009)
Because comparing a spin off to a main game is so fair, lol.

When Graces come out I wonder what your reaction will be?
Egghead (on 15 October 2009)
Fair enough, but this only 20-30k ahead in Japan.

1.1 vs 8.6 million userbase, come on thats just low.
Son1x (on 15 October 2009)
ToV 360 was released in Europe, this wasn't yet.
Egghead (on 15 October 2009)
PWNED, 360 version overatakes this, next up PS3 Japanese port will do too!
Son1x (on 01 October 2009)
Taram! We get this game more than 1 year later than US.
TheConduit (on 27 September 2009)

Tales of Symphonia (GC, PS2) 1.1m
Tales of Destiny 2 (PS2, PSP) 0.92m
Tales of Eternia (PS, PSP) 0.91m
Tales of Rebirth (PS2, PSP) 0.66m
Tales of Vesperia (Xbox360, PS3) 0.64m
Tales of Abyss (PS2) 0.57m
Tales of Innocence (DS) 0.26m
Tales of Hearts (DS) 0.25m
rudyrsr8 (on 25 September 2009)
Well that sucks to wait soooo long for Others release.
Soriku (on 15 September 2009)
"the story doesnt really honor the symphonia/phantasia world properly"

What? It fills in all the plot holes leading into Phantasia completely.
novasonic (on 15 September 2009)
the two new main characters ruin the entire game. not to mention the story doesnt really honor the symphonia/phantasia world properly. 5.5/10 for this, and I gave the first one 20/10
CaptainDJ (on 06 September 2009)
The Game Cube one is better.
TheConduit (on 13 August 2009)
If they released it in others and took a little more time to add polish this game would have sold much better

Hope tales of Graces can finally take down tales of Symphonia

Odd that the best selling tales game was on the worst selling console for the series
RunescapeFan (on 09 August 2009)
Soooooooooooooooooooo Underated
Majin-Tenshinhan (on 08 August 2009)
I want this x_x I can't believe it's taking them until October to get it to us. Sometimes I hate living in Europe ...
Fleeman (on 06 August 2009)
it comes out in october in EU
shakarak (on 02 August 2009)
When was it released in eu?
RunescapeFan (on 01 August 2009)
Best RPG On Wii Ever I Love It
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 01 August 2009)
i'm happy it's selling, at least 0.50 with EU : )
intro94 (on 01 August 2009)
not to mention EU is about to launch a special edition..Tales of graces will be properly received.
Soriku (on 28 July 2009)
Oh, it seems like it did get a rerelease :o It sold 1800+ this week, nice.
kanjitech18 (on 26 July 2009)
Sales are beginning to go back up now. I guess that means Namco doing another re-release of the game. A little less than 2000 copies sold this week. I hope it picks up like Vesperia did.
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 26 July 2009)
sold 1500 this week, sales have increased : )
miz1q2w3e (on 25 July 2009)
I just finished this game and i loved it SO MUCH! my favourite RPG of all time and one of my personal fav games of this gen.

sadly i think this is the last we'll ever see of the wonderful characters and story of Tales of Symphonia.. I'm so saaad :'(
gansito (on 23 July 2009)
amazing game. my 2nd fave game on the wii.
Soriku (on 19 July 2009)
Yay, finally managed 380k :P
IxisNaugus (on 14 July 2009)
This game will be out soon in EU. Dammit, i need to hurry up and get Vesperia...
Xen (on 13 July 2009)
Europe will buy its 20-30k and be done with it...
kanjitech18 (on 08 July 2009)
I'm hoping that it gets a re-release, like what Tales of Vesperia's getting right now. Also, hope Europe buys it. Alot.
TheConduit (on 06 July 2009)
Although I enjoyed this game it definetly seemed rushed and could have been much better.
I wish they would release in others so I could see how the game performs at full potential
Son1x (on 03 July 2009)
:o is that European date legit?
Kenology (on 03 July 2009)
I believe I'm at the very end of the game and I'm gonna put it to bed today. I had a lot of fun with it and the story really came together in Chapter 8 just now.
ClaudeLv250 (on 03 July 2009)
Got back into this, raising the top evoluion monsters are fun. I'm leveling my Ravenous and working towards a Sword Dancer. =D
Mad55 (on 02 July 2009)
i wonder how much it cost to make considering it made 10 mil+
Kihniö (on 20 June 2009)
Come already to Europe
Soriku (on 18 June 2009)
I think it'll sell 70-80k in EU, making it sell 440-450k which would be good but I want it to sell more ;_;
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 11 June 2009)
if we get similar numbers from Europe, the game is success! : )

even 0.3 would still make decent sales of 400k, not bad

but we want even more focus and effort on the next Tales
spurgeonryan (on 10 June 2009)
Yeah I doubt other will get 620 thousand
jbee02 (on 03 June 2009)
this a good game
intro94 (on 17 May 2009)
well Chizurum,if you take in account EU is soon getting an special edition, and that the Original ToSgot copies for 2 years, i think thats is not gonna happen anytime soon.
Chrizum (on 17 May 2009)
Yes they do. When no one is buying them, no new copies will be made.
intro94 (on 15 May 2009)
games dont "suddenly" stop selling you know.
VivaLaWiida (on 10 May 2009)
Will stop at about 0.45
intro94 (on 10 May 2009)
since its selling at the same rate than the original, and the original already sold a million, its kinda reasonable to asume the same for this one.Specially taking in accound the EU market comming up.
Soriku (on 08 May 2009)
This game won't hit 1 mil O-o

I'm hoping it at least hits 500k.
intro94 (on 07 May 2009)
the game is not even a year old, and there still europe to come.I see at least a million seller on the move
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 28 April 2009)
seems it will never get over 0.38 without Europe
DOLBYdigital (on 28 April 2009)
Coming to EU with extra content!

New accessories, unlockable gallery, and new special effects during fights are all part of the extra content for the EU release.

Highly recommended from me and I am not even a huge RPG fan, if you liked ToS then this is right up your alley ;)
Soriku (on 22 April 2009)
Order more ToS...I hope so :o

Coming to EU in Autumn, peeps! Hope EU makes it hit 500k...
DOLBYdigital (on 21 April 2009)
Finally got this game and have to admit that it was very hard to find this game in retail stores. I went to 3 different gamestops and finally found it at the last one. I normally buy games online but wanted to see what the game stores were like around my house. It seems like many good games are not getting good shelf space.

I think I overheard the gamestop guy mention ordering more ToS after I bought my copy. Oh and I have only played the game for an hour but it seems really solid. The beginning is kinda slow but most RPGs have a slow beginning. This should consume my attention until the next round of games come out ;)
PlayerX (on 17 April 2009)
So true!
Alphaprime (on 12 April 2009)
I Have to say for the gamers in the
U.k and some people wont like what
I'm going to say but I have about 20hr in to Tales of Vesperia and I have finished TOS-2 and I would have to say that TOS-2 is the better game dont miss out on this game and support the up an coming Tales of Graces
Soriku (on 09 April 2009)

Coming to EU later this year.

Sold another 1k :)
KungKras (on 08 April 2009)
DOLBYdigital (on 06 April 2009)
I am still considering a purchase but not sure. Are there a variety of attacks and is it more fighting heavy or story heavy. Just wondering although I will probably get it at some point ;)
Kenology (on 04 April 2009)
This game is great... I'm really lovin' it right now.
J-Favs (on 03 April 2009)
I really want to play this but there still isnt a release date for it in the PAL regions. :(
Soriku (on 02 April 2009)
Still selling over 1k a week. Keep selling...!
intro94 (on 01 April 2009)
this is selling quite decently, without counting EU sales.Good news for rpg makers for wi
*~Onna76~* (on 30 March 2009)
Just ordered the game from CDuniverse, it got a slight of price drop so couldn't really refuse anymore.
MANUELF (on 27 March 2009)
If somebody want to buy this game, you can buy it in Amazon, it only cost $30.
Riot Of The Blood (on 26 March 2009)
gameplay score should have been a bit higher probably. The gap between this and Vesperia's gameplay isn't very big.
Chrizum (on 22 March 2009)
Slightly overtracked in America though (around 20k).
Soriku (on 22 March 2009)
Yes, Ari, a low budget game that has sold 370k on the Wii and is still selling in NA and will reach 500k once it hits EU is a complete bomb, yep :-P
Ari_Gold (on 21 March 2009)
wow , what a bomb
Soriku (on 20 March 2009)
It will have legs for a long time. Very slow legs though, but it'll count in the long run. With EU, it should hit 500k, which is pretty good.
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 20 March 2009)
if it reaches 0.5m it will be ok
Soriku (on 19 March 2009)
Finally, 370k.
intro94 (on 18 March 2009)
the previous game sold 1 mil in how long?they have sold similarly then
Son1x (on 05 March 2009)
I might actualy buy this game when it comes to Europe. Maybe.
Wetcoaster (on 05 March 2009)
Sales have been steady at around 2k a week in NA for a while now. Keep selling, baby.
shakarak (on 01 March 2009)
Dam I love this game and I'm only 10 hours in.
Soriku (on 28 February 2009)
It increased by 300 units from last week in NA. Its legs should continue for a while. EU should put it at 500k.
kopstudent89 (on 27 February 2009)
poor sales for the game... i cant believe the previous version did 1 mil!
Soriku (on 26 February 2009)
It took me like 12. My gameplay is nearing 130 hours or may have passed that already.
atma998 (on 25 February 2009)
It tooks me at least 10 hours to complete this dungeon. My game is now at 105 hours of play time, I think I'm now done with that game. It was a good one.
Soriku (on 25 February 2009)
I hate Gladsheim. I did it with no drawn maps whatsoever. I drew my own maps in my head lol.

I got 30 philosopher's stones from the dungeon :) And I also got Marta's best weapon, the Kismet.
atma998 (on 24 February 2009)
Man Gladsheim dungeon was a pain in the ass. At least it gaves ma a lot of Philosopher Stones...
Vas-y (on 18 February 2009)
Ok, I got it. Marta is great :P. Well, Alice and Decus are dead. This was the hardest battle in the game.
Soriku (on 18 February 2009)
Oh, and coming to EU!

Soriku (on 18 February 2009)
Anyone saying Marta's weak is crazy. She's like...the best heroine battle wise.

Get all her speed cast skills which brings the speed of ALL spells down to to like one second and the Healer's Ribbon which brings all artes to 1 (including mystic artes) and she's insane. She becomes really broken.
damkira (on 18 February 2009)
Marta is not a weak character... Play as her and use a mystic arte. It does a lot of damage plus heals your party.

I beat them pretty easily using 2player. It would have been pretty difficult to do by yourself.

Remember to take out Alice first, then Decus.
Vas-y (on 16 February 2009)
I can't win against Alice and Decus. It is impossible for me... oh my, this is getting really frustrating, Marta is such a weak character. Well, I'll have to level again for hours (I mean, it's really REALLY frustrating).
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 14 February 2009)
it's one of my favorite games of all time as well, my 4th best Wii game : P
emilie autumn (on 12 February 2009)
Soriku (on 12 February 2009)
Ratatosk Emil is awesome though!
Valkyria00 (on 11 February 2009)
Really really awesome game. True some points are frustrating and annoying but when I finally beat the game I realized how much I enjoyed it. Will be one of my favorite games of all time mainly because its my first console JRPG.
Emil is a bitch but Marta is awesome.
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 11 February 2009)
LoL, skits are always funny! : )
Vas-y (on 10 February 2009)
I really do like the skits this time. Sometimes they're quite enjoyable. Had to love when Tenebrae got angry because everyone called the monster "light-frog" instead of Nazdrovie. But in a skit, everyone is calling the monster Nazdrovie but this time Tenebrae wants the members to call it the light-frog xD.
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 10 February 2009)

it's still profitable, sure money for Namco
Phoenix_Wiight (on 09 February 2009)
big drop for the game
Soriku (on 09 February 2009)
Well, keep in mind this is a spin off and the GC had like zero RPGs before ToS launched. Anyway, I believe it will reach 500k eventually. I just hope they release it in EU, along with ToV. ToS made it to EU...why not DotNW?
outlawauron (on 09 February 2009)
@ dark

I'm all for it, but why would you make another if the sequel sells less than half of the original?
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 09 February 2009)
hm, the sales are still good, it can reach 0.5 million but will take a long time without Europe sales

it's still above Vesperia which is a success, who knows, maybe we get Symphonia 3 if it reaches 0.5 million
outlawauron (on 09 February 2009)
I'm not surprised.

VGC has overtracked the American sales for every JRPG this generation.
damkira (on 08 February 2009)
Now I'm depressed :(
Soriku (on 08 February 2009)
Adjusted down? FACK!!!
Soriku (on 07 February 2009)
Hooray, another 5889 sold!
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 05 February 2009)
actually, the numbers are very accurate!
Soriku (on 03 February 2009)

Beat me to it.
doop (on 03 February 2009)
uh no. the ign podcast was talking about december sales only. the values here pretty accurate
Chrizum (on 03 February 2009)
Yea, overtracked by about 100k in the US.
pedrocasilva (on 02 February 2009)
"Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World has sold just over 95,000 - NPD numbers"

From IGN.

Those numbers for US are wrong.
Lolcislaw (on 02 February 2009)
If they dont bring this to Europe i will be really pissed off.
Phoenix_Wiight (on 31 January 2009)
ya, naruto3336

this is my first "Tales," never played the others and I understand most of what's happening. They repeat some of the events from the previous games, and explain the old characters
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 30 January 2009)

yeap, you'll understand the story, which is very interesting, parts of the story are repeated some times in dialogues and all events are connected at the end

i'm on chapter 8 and i have to say the game is one of the best i've ever played, just like the original
naruto3336 (on 30 January 2009)
Can I buy this game and understand the plot even though i did not play the others before it? I heard its a really good game from friends and review are good too. I think it deserves more sales. So yeah will i understand?
Soriku (on 28 January 2009)
Keep selling!
Blacksaber (on 26 January 2009)
Wow that hot-springs scene beat the originals one!
JTurner82 (on 25 January 2009)
I knew it would happen. The moment I started playing I was completely captivated by ToS: DotNW. I was a little iffy about Emil at first, but now he's really grown on me. Now that I'm close to the end, I can say that he comes across as a very well-rounded character. As for the game, aside from a few technical issues (lots of loading times), I have no regrets playing this game. It's not as epic as the original (as expected), but it's still a pleasant way to spend 20+ hours of gametime. And for a system currently lacking RPGs, this is a pretty good effort.
Soriku (on 25 January 2009)
Yes, yes I do.
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 23 January 2009)
it's not overtracked....

average gamer score is 9.1%

99% of people who got the game love it, it's normal to be sellingl well
(for god's sake)
spaceworlder (on 19 January 2009)
ToS doing better in the US than Japan wouldn't be surprising, considering that the Gamecube's Japanese installed was about 1/4th of what it was in America. That said, I have my suspicions about the numbers VGchartz gives for ToS.

The last credible figure I can find for Symphonia sales pegs it at 285k in America (circa early '05). Wikipedia mentions worldwide sales of 1.2 million, which encompasses both Japanese releases (390k-PS2 and 311k-GC), the above mentioned 285k US figure, and 184k for the European release. I have seen nothing to support the 500k VGchartz lists for the US version.

Now, keep in mind that it took a little over five months for Symphonia to achieve that 285k figure in America. Also keep in mind that even Final Fantasy has never seen sales for a sequel outpace the "original" in the US.

You still expect me to believe this game isn't being overtracked?
RPG_Fanatic (on 19 January 2009)

The Tales Series is not that niche. Also remember that the original tales of symphonia sold extremely well on the gamecube, over 500k (outselling the Japan sales for the Gamecbue version). There is no reason to believe that these numbers are being overtracked.
spaceworlder (on 19 January 2009)

Somehow, I doubt that a game in a nich franchise in a niche genre can sell faster here than in Japan, where the franchise and genre aren't so niche. It's like asking me to believe that Japanese Resistance 2 sales are outpacing American ones.
Soriku (on 18 January 2009)

No, Wii RPGs can sell much
J-Favs (on 18 January 2009)
I hope they give some sort of release date for Others because I really want this game even if it isnt anything special, I just need a good RPG.
spaceworlder (on 17 January 2009)
200k in eight weeks? Overtracking much?
Thechalkblock (on 16 January 2009)
Anyway, this game deserves to be released in Europe.
Thechalkblock (on 16 January 2009)
Heavenly_King, stay off of Wii games if your just going to spread your Sonyism.
Soriku (on 16 January 2009)
It was in the 800ks, didn't reach 900k.

Also, ToD flopped in the US and wasn't released in EU. It wouldn't have sold 200-250k or whatever to pass ToS at 1.1 mil.
Phoenix_Wiight (on 16 January 2009)
Heavenly_King, you're obviously a PS3 fanboy coming to this board only to laugh at the wii. now lets see.
this game wasn't one of the best of the series, nor was it even one of the main one in it's series, so don't you think thats why? the other tales for the wii will surely pass WKC
Arfen (on 15 January 2009)
I want to put my hands on this. European release please
outlawauron (on 15 January 2009)
@ Soriku

Do you really think that? We don't have any American or European data for Tales of Destiny which sold 900k just in Japan.

I think that's the highest selling one.
Soriku (on 14 January 2009)
Atari isn't publishing ToV. Nobody's publishing ToV, and some needs to get ToV and DotNW out in EU ASAP!

Also, 12k is nice. Hope it stays consistent! Please 500k!
VivaLaWiida (on 14 January 2009)
Let's hope this will see an European release.
pedrocasilva (on 13 January 2009)
Regarding the ridiculous PAL situation make yourselves heard through here:

it's fast, won't take more than a minute and who knows, might work.

(why Atari? because they're the ones publishing ToV and the ones who said ToSDotNW is not in their plans)
Zucas (on 13 January 2009)
Well I don't really trust that German source yet so don't get too down about it anyways.

Now 12k in the week after the holidays ain't bad. Man if it could hold 10k for awhile that would be awesome.
damkira (on 13 January 2009)
Its ridiculous that this game won't see a European release.. especially considering that its selling better than any of the other Tales games except Tales of Symphonia.

This is a great game and it deserves a worldwide release!
MANUELF (on 12 January 2009)
I just find Regal and he join my party. =)
Soriku (on 11 January 2009)

No, ToS is the best selling Tales game and it sold 1.1 mil.

Best selling Tales spin off though, yes.
atma998 (on 11 January 2009)
Is it the best selling Tales?
Vas-y (on 10 January 2009)
European Release plox. This is getting annoying.
ClaudeLv250 (on 09 January 2009)
Tempest is pretty much out of the question and there's still hope for Innocence, but if they're going to bring one of the DS titles over it's going to be Hearts.
Onimusha12 (on 07 January 2009)
If this game does well enough we may finally see the two Tales of Games on the DS localized.
Soriku (on 06 January 2009)

This has been above Vesperia since...ever.
link_triforce (on 05 January 2009)
this has already beat Vesperia! No way!
Soriku (on 05 January 2009)

Blasphemy. This game rocks.
RPG_Fanatic (on 05 January 2009)
At this rate, the game is going to sell more in America than Japan. The American sales could allow this game to break the 500k mark.
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 05 January 2009)
Europe release may take very long, i hope it's not the case of Mario Super Sluggers or SoulCalibur Legends
(released in Europe 9 months later)

why is Namco marketing so horrible in Europe? : (
Lord_Yggdrassil (on 05 January 2009)
This game doesn't deserve to sell at all. Bitterly Dissapointing.
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 05 January 2009)
Soriku (on 04 January 2009)
Yay! Steady sales! Keep selling, keep selling! And release DotNW in PAL regions!
Lolcislaw (on 04 January 2009)
And still no PAL version, im so mad about it.
Zucas (on 04 January 2009)
Wooh just keep on rolling Tales haha. I need you to sell so I can get a 3rd one.
Zucas (on 04 January 2009)
Yea this was a sequel. It's a spinoff only character wise. It's kinda like KOTOR 2 if you want to put it that way. But I guess still have to call it a spinoff.

And it setup very very well for a 3rd one so I hope they make one.
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 04 January 2009)
i'd like a 3rd one as well! :P
Soriku (on 04 January 2009)
lol, spin off or not it's still a sequel.

Besides, it doesn't have to be called ToS3 :P They could name ToS: ThWii for all I care :P
MontanaHatchet (on 03 January 2009)
But Soriku, they need to make Tales of Symphonia 2 before they can make a third one. After all, this one's only a spinoff (just like you said!).

Soriku (on 03 January 2009)
Bad ending...oh my O_o How depressing.

Normal ending sucks too.

Good ending FTW, glad I got it. The last scene was way too awesome :'(

I want a ToS3!
Soriku (on 03 January 2009)
Finished the game at like 66 hours. I did all the Katz quests and the coliseum so that helped me chalk up more time. I think I spent more on this first time through than ToS1.

I'm so sad it's finished :( I need to go watch the other endings now. I got the good one I think.

But can't wait for the new Tales!
TheConduit (on 02 January 2009)
A good sequel
A decent game
A test for an original Wii Tales game
rapsuperstar31 (on 31 December 2008)
got this game for xmas...have not been able to step away from the game since. Such an awesome awesome game!!!
Soriku (on 30 December 2008)
Ratatosk Emil is badass.
andrewclear (on 29 December 2008)
I think gamers are tired of cell shaded graphics. All the RPGS released this gen with cell shading have had very weak sales. The games without (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Last Remnant, etc) have had better fates.
link_triforce (on 29 December 2008)
the japanese sales seem to bomb after the fourth week of release
Onimusha12 (on 28 December 2008)
sleeper hit? dead steady sales. Wonder if alot of gamers on the fence about this one are slowly being won over one by one
MANUELF (on 28 December 2008)
I will start the game when I finish Tales of Symphonia.
Soriku (on 27 December 2008)
Oh, and sales boost FTW!
Soriku (on 27 December 2008)
Aiemond (on 27 December 2008)
I picked this up today. Much fun :)
ClaudeLv250 (on 27 December 2008)
Awesome game, awesome sales.
bigjon (on 26 December 2008)
500k is a sure thing, i am hoping for 700k here... 700k for a spinoff, lower budget, jrpg!!! Ya baby.
RPG_Fanatic (on 26 December 2008)
Go Tales of Symphonia. Glad to see the holiday is boosting sales.
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 26 December 2008)
nice, i'm so happy now! : )
Wetcoaster (on 26 December 2008)
Yet another sales boost.

Above 25k. =D
Thechalkblock (on 25 December 2008)
I have started playing this game, and I don't think it deserves the reviews it gets.
Zucas (on 25 December 2008)
As I said its selling like Fire Emblem in America. Hopefully it will have better legs then FE but we'll see. If not then we are looking at about 350k-400k in America and a possibly 100k-150k in E/O. That's about 800k WW which is not bad but I would have wanted more.
mfogg20 (on 23 December 2008)
Finally got the game! Will start playing on christmas day
AJM Ruler (on 21 December 2008)
Doing pretty good, much better than Vesperia. I think it probably will at least get 300K in the US if it stays at a steady 12K+, and will probably hit 600K worldwide. Namco should be happy.
Aiemond (on 21 December 2008)
Yay increase!
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 21 December 2008)
OMG, that 13k was very frightening!

increase!! : )

damkira (on 21 December 2008)
Huh.. I wonder if the sales increase is because its christmastime or just because of good word of mouth. This game needs to be released in EU soon where it could possibly sell more than in the US.
Soriku (on 20 December 2008)
Wetcoaster (on 20 December 2008)
Sales boost from the previous week. =]
bigjon (on 19 December 2008)
just beat the game, ending is GREAT. It only takes 30 hours to beat this game. Do so the story is very good.

Also it is a spinoff. Once you play it, you will know that for sure.
SmokedHostage (on 18 December 2008)
"I just love breaking the arms of cute little girls like youuuuu."

"Why you little bitch."

Voice acting is worst than the first..
Soriku (on 17 December 2008)
This game needs to hit EU. That's the only way it'll hit 500k.
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 17 December 2008)
come on, the game is selling good, it will reach 0.5 million for sure, and then it will increase veeeery slowly

and why is it a spin-off, it's a great tales of game!
kopstudent89 (on 16 December 2008)
wow, this sucks...
emilie autumn (on 15 December 2008)
before this came out i had a bet with my brother that this game wil atleast sell 1mil but seems like i'm gonna loose

i'm still rooting for 500k though
dib8rman (on 14 December 2008)
Whatever, I enjoyed this game, and I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to know what a good jrpg is.

dib8rman (on 14 December 2008)
Whatever, I enjoyed this game, and I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to know what a good jrpg is.

Aiemond (on 14 December 2008)
Great sales for a spinoff. This is why the wii will be the rpg system. Good sales with lower dev costs. Compare this with VC.
ClaudeLv250 (on 14 December 2008)
Outsold Vesperia in America already.

Sales are impressing me.
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 14 December 2008)
yeah, reviews are killing a great game!

when a review does not meet the average gamer's opinion it means fail
Zucas (on 14 December 2008)
Oh how much this disappoints me. ya complain about their being no "hardcore" Wii titles and then people don't buy the ones that do make it. Not the dev's fault but it's your fault. Great job guys.
Chrizum (on 13 December 2008)
JRPG's aren't selling like they used to... :-(
Onimusha12 (on 13 December 2008)
Game is criminally addictive.

People who hate it probably haven't played more than a few hours (i.e. reviewers)
gunslinger (on 13 December 2008)
Screw the reviewers, thuis game is awesome! I love that it uses the same areas, altough it is 2 years later. It's neat to see how they have changed.
Madanial (on 12 December 2008)
For me that never play TOS ,first 4 hrs i think this game's ok to play.
But after that i start to addict to this game slowly ,now 18 hrs in gameplay and i can said that i love this game.
It even able to pull me back from Capital Wasteland(Fallout 3). XD
Thechalkblock (on 09 December 2008)
How is the co-op in this game, any good?
Onimusha12 (on 06 December 2008)
Also, the depressing alternative ending is great.
Zucas (on 06 December 2008)
Well it depends where you are after 4 hrs. It took me 2-3 hrs before I really started to love the game like I do now. And yes it gets a hell of a lot better as you progress. It's one of the few games where it actually is nothing but building until the final cutscene which is usually quite surprising in the game. No climax in the middle.
Soriku (on 05 December 2008)
The game's supposed to get better. 4 hours is nothing. If you want to see what happened to them, actually play the game.
c0rd (on 05 December 2008)
Damn, after playing the game with my bro for a while it became obvious to me this wouldn't sell nearly as well as the first. It seems like they put little effort into the game... honestly, it was painful trying to play it. I forced myself for ~4hrs until I (or we) couldn't take it anymore.

Does the game get any better later on? I lent it to a cousin, maybe I'll give it another chance later. Otherwise, it's definitely getting sold. It plays like a really, really bad, corny anime. I don't recall the first ToS being like this. It's too bad, because I really wanted to see what happened to the old characters...
Soriku (on 04 December 2008)

Because big games are usually front loaded. It only dropped 2k. If it wasn't BF it would've dropped lower. But hey, selling better than ToV. Good enough.
Wetcoaster (on 04 December 2008)
This game is just as addicting the second play through as it was the first.

Gah, I heart ToS2 so much.
Chrizum (on 04 December 2008)
Wow, this must be the only Wii game not seeing an increase on black friday...

Why do all the "important" third party games flop on the Wii?
Soriku (on 04 December 2008)
Hmm...was hoping for 40k. I think I was asking a bit much though lol. Sales only dropped 2k, hope it stays more consistent.
SaviorX (on 03 December 2008)
This should be at 500k at maybe after it's 21st week of release in NA.
Zucas (on 03 December 2008)
Well I was hoping it could go up to 30k for Black Friday week but at least it sustained. We'll see how it progresses. More people need to buy this game haha.
trestres (on 03 December 2008)
@RPGfanatic, it hasn't been released in others yet, the game will be gold before it even launches there I believe. If not, others will help.
RPG_Fanatic (on 03 December 2008)
In 3 weeks, Tales of Symphonia has sold more than Tales of Vesperia in 14 weeks.
Hopefully we can push for at least 200k
Soriku (on 02 December 2008)
Btw, there's an extra dungeon on chapter 8 on the second playthrough. Plus Kratos appears in the Tower of Salvation before the Altamira scene with Marta on the second playthrough too. So you guys might wanna replay it XD
Soriku (on 02 December 2008)
lol. It's really that emotional? ;)

I hope I get the good ending...
Zucas (on 02 December 2008)
Yea I already watched it on youtube and I couldn't stand that one. Mad me so depressed. And I couldn't have handled the normal ending either. I needed that good ending after the credits. I wish I had a picture of that to put in my sig or something.
Wetcoaster (on 02 December 2008)

Dude, I told you! haha. Exactly what happened to me.

Now go back and watch the "bad" ending. =[
Or watch it on youtube or something.
Zucas (on 02 December 2008)
*crying* Alright I just beat this game and the ending is beautiful. This game is just a masterpiece and the ending just got me all teary eyed. Just such an amazing finish to something that built up for 38 hrs. I want a picture for that last frame.
Zucas (on 01 December 2008)
That's what MS does haha. MS has done that ever since they've entered the gaming industry. Throwing around their money weight to be able to take losses in this industry but still stay afloat because of profits in the other areas. Thus they are able to compete with the major losses.

It's really not fair at all which I think its such sweet justice that PS2 beat them badly last generation and that Wii is beating them in this one. Makes me think there is some justice left in the world. Nothing against 360 just MS. I know its just business but its not the kind of business I like. No honor or respect for competition or themselves. I can be an idealist right.
arsenal009 (on 01 December 2008)
Did M$ moneyhat Namco to put Tales on 360? Cause i doubt that game is going to get enough sales. This game is already selling more & costs much less to make.
ClaudeLv250 (on 30 November 2008)
I got it...for Xmas. :(

Can't wait.
Lord_Yggdrassil (on 28 November 2008)
This game will sell better in US than Japan...again. It's gonna have stronger legs.
Zucas (on 28 November 2008)
Well I hope I get the good ending because I dont' think I could handle the bad ending.
Wetcoaster (on 28 November 2008)
Oh, and I'm not ashamed to admit that the ending almost made me cry. Seriously.

The "good" ending, that is. I haven't watched the "bad" ending yet.
Wetcoaster (on 28 November 2008)
Finished it last night, Emil on lvl 59, Marta on Lvl 57 and some monsters well into their 90's. 36:20 time spent. Used Emil, Marta, Raine and Genis for the final fight. =D

Easily one of the best games I've ever played. The story just keeps getting better all the way to the very last cutscene after the credits. It leaves you wanting more and more.
Zucas (on 28 November 2008)
HOLY SHIT. Now 28 hrs through and on chapter 8. I got to tell ya this game just has me on the edge of my seat every step of the way. I think this is the last chapter so I'm going to spend a lot of time getting the powerful monsters and whatnot but geez.

This is easily one of the best stories I've played. Guess the Tales series is known for that. People need to buy this game so I get a 3rd one haha.
Soriku (on 27 November 2008)
Sales staying steady. Good thing Black Friday's next week, looking for some increases! It should pass Vesperia NA sales next week. Hope it stays steady for the rest of the year.
Zucas (on 27 November 2008)
Yes lots of time spent into this game.

25k second week in America is actually pretty good. Next week it'll stay in that range to 40k because of Black Friday and hopefully stay at that for the rest of the year. Possibly over 250k by the end of the year in America. We'll see.
RPG_Fanatic (on 27 November 2008)
This game is awesome. 42 hours at chapter 6. This game has some of the best skits ever.
Tenebrae is my new favourite tales charcter
I also love the references to the first game, like quick-jump.
Looks like this games has a good chance to pass 100k.
Soriku (on 25 November 2008)
That's cool.
Zucas (on 25 November 2008)
Oh well your beefing your monsters ups haha. My characters are like level 30 something with level 30 monsters haha. They are in their 3rd evolution. Man I need to beef them some more.

But yea I don't want htis game to end but I need it to. I am so into the story right now that it picks me up and drops me off all the time. Getting hard to play because I want to know what happens but I know I have another 20 hrs before I fully understand it.

That's the sign of a good game haha.
Wetcoaster (on 24 November 2008)
@ Zucas

Geez, maybe I am playing slow. haha. I'm at least halfway through chapter five or near the end. My characters are on level 43 and some of my monsters are 70+ and that's with evolutions too.

I don't really want this game to end soon, so it's all good. =D
Zucas (on 24 November 2008)
wetcoaster- 25 hrs to get to chapter 5. I'm just at the beginnings of chapter 5 and I've taken 13 hrs. This is no sidequests of course but still haha.

This game has so much to do, by the way, for anyone looking for replay value. I mean 13 hrs through and only 4% master completion is simply amazing haha.
Wetcoaster (on 24 November 2008)
Holy crap rudy, you finished the game fast. I've been playing for 25 hours and I'm only in chapter 5. I haven't been playing at a slow pace either but I have done quite a few quests.
rudyrsr8 (on 24 November 2008)
Finished it the first time in 25:27, starting a second this weekend.
Wetcoaster (on 24 November 2008)
@ Soriku- just as awesome as they were in ToS. IMO the new voice actors do a decent job. They really try to make the change go unnoticed (except for Lloyd).
Soriku (on 24 November 2008)
Btw...how are the original ToS characters?
Soriku (on 24 November 2008)

At least I get it next month but I WANT IT NOW!!!
Wetcoaster (on 24 November 2008)
25:32 in and it just keeps getting better and better. =D
Zucas (on 23 November 2008)
Was and still is awesome. I got a long way to go in it.

I'm just so addicted to it right now. Anytime I'm not playing it I'm thinking about playing it. And my addiction just seems to come with the two main characters. Haven't felt such a love for main characters in a game since Zelda: TP.
rudyrsr8 (on 23 November 2008)
This game was awesome.
Zucas (on 23 November 2008)
13 hrs through currently. 35% on the skit and like 4% for master completion.
kopstudent89 (on 22 November 2008)
i was abt to say that soriku was a bit late to comment on NA sales =p

Yeah well hopefully this performs well in the holidays
Soriku (on 22 November 2008)
Nice NA start.

I need this game ASAP D:
Incandescence (on 22 November 2008)
I love this game. The characters are so kawaii.
Vas-y (on 21 November 2008)
I want this game so urgently. So please someone tells us the release date for Europe, kthx.
Wetcoaster (on 21 November 2008)
Decent sales. Hopefully it has a strong holiday.

Does anyone know what the first ToS sold first week? Vgc has it as n/a.
Leni (on 21 November 2008)
why? because of the IGN review?

it will sell a lot because it's great!
and it will have legs, especially in Europe!
(let's hope)
Xen (on 21 November 2008)
1300000? it won't ever reach that.

750k LTD.
Tuulikk (on 21 November 2008)
Well, not the best start in America, but it could still go well as long as the sales don't drop in Japan style. With Others, 500 000 - 1 300 000 before the end of next year, I think.
Leni (on 21 November 2008)
go and buy this game now!

nice sales! i hope it keeps up!
Phoenix_Wiight (on 20 November 2008)
off to a better start then vesperia. yay.
damkira (on 20 November 2008)
I'm really loving this game.. I don't think the bad reviews were justified at all.
MontanaHatchet (on 20 November 2008)
Sc: And your prediction...
Myviewing (on 20 November 2008)
America's here to save the day! Hopefully doens't decline that much in coming weeks.
Zucas (on 20 November 2008)
Well at first it wasn't exciting me too much but now that I'm 3 hrs into it I'm loving it. The relationship between Marta and Emil is just so cute haha that it keeps me going. Not too many games I've played have that in it.
sc94597 (on 20 November 2008)
@Kenology If it did 156k in Japan first week, it will do 100k in U.S first week. Actually I think it has a good chance of doing double or close to it what it did in Japan first week. ToS was more popular in the West than it was in Japan.
Leni (on 19 November 2008)
i find it awesome as well....

prefer it than the 1st one!
less anime-style videos and more things to do

a MUST buy!!
Wetcoaster (on 17 November 2008)
For anyone who had any doubts, this game is definitely awesome.

Tenebrae is frickin hilarious. =D
Kenology (on 15 November 2008)
Hoping this has a solid debut in NA of atleast 70k. 100k would be really nice! :D
AJM Ruler (on 13 November 2008)
Dam, adjusted down 20k in Japan. Looks like it will never reach 250k, oh well.
kopstudent89 (on 13 November 2008)
ouch japan sales down... NA plz save this game!
Wetcoaster (on 12 November 2008)
Japan sales adjusted down? =[
Wetcoaster (on 12 November 2008)
So...very...excited! =D
c03n3nj0 (on 10 November 2008)
Nice japan sales, this game will definitly sell a million.
kopstudent89 (on 09 November 2008)
predictions for first week in NA?
Crystalchild (on 01 November 2008)
european release plx :P
silverlunar777 (on 18 October 2008)
Maybe it will reach 300k when it is all said and done.
Which is pretty good IMO.
Soriku (on 13 October 2008)
Christmas should raise sales a bit. It really is the only notable JRPG right now on the Wii ;3
c0rd (on 12 October 2008)
VGC had us thinking it had legs, giving it a shot at the first ToS's sales. Finding out it wasn't possible was a bit disappointing.

Besides that, the game did fine. 240k not just for a Tales game, but a Tales spinoff. I wanted this to be the first million selling JRPG though :-P
pmaster4 (on 11 October 2008)
is Lloyd really the bad guy for this game??
SaviorX (on 09 October 2008)
I like the "America" boxart.
BengaBenga (on 09 October 2008)
Why are so many people complaining about the Japanese sales. 240k is great for a JRPG in the Tales series.
nordlead (on 08 October 2008)
I just pre-ordered this through the VGChartz Amazon store for only $36.99. I thought this game was going to be full priced, but hey, cheap is good.
Soriku (on 06 October 2008)
I like the US box art.
Soriku (on 27 September 2008)
Reached 240k. On to 250k.
Chrizum (on 25 September 2008)
It seems this game won't even reach 300k in Japan. It bombed. :-(
kopstudent89 (on 25 September 2008)
sub 1000 sales...
Soriku (on 21 September 2008)
@Chrizum, alfredo

The game was adjusted down from 240k to 230k. Week 8-10 was in the 4k sales but you can see it dropped :3
alfredofroylan (on 20 September 2008)
And why is this overtracked? Do you have some info about the sales on this title.
Chrizum (on 18 September 2008)
@ c0rd: why is it overtracked?
Soriku (on 18 September 2008)
Overtracked? NOOO!!! :(

Holiday will still give it a boost though :P
Senrii (on 18 September 2008)
Please sell more, sell more :)
I just started playing ToS again, and it's still a very nice game..

I want this game.. I want this game.. I want this game!
c0rd (on 17 September 2008)
Ouch, just as I feared, the game was heavily overtracked, lol... oh well. Still did okay, I guess.
Zucas (on 16 September 2008)
Hmm showing consistent sales and not dying off. Interesting. Well seems it'll make it solidly to the holidays. Well done.

Looking about about around 300k by end of the year in Japan. No scheduled release date for PAL yet but doubtful if that area would be a big selling region anyways. However ToS has pretty large brand here in America considering the last one on GC was quite a hit considering. So I'd say it'll open to decent sales and really get those holiday boosts and hopefully be able to hang around to at least push it over 500k by Q1 2009. Hope for more haha. But in an unsaturated market of RPG's should have that many problems in America.
Voltaire (on 13 September 2008)
The japaneses sales are ok, i hope NA sales OBLITERATE it though. Im sure it will too.
whacker41 (on 11 September 2008)
it's sold above 4k for 4 weeks. very nice.
Soriku (on 10 September 2008)
It sold 4,637 this week!
Nazkull (on 09 September 2008)
It sold not bad in japan, now lets see how its gonna do in NA.

I hope its gonna do better than in japan
Soriku (on 07 September 2008)
kopstudent89 (on 05 September 2008)
yeah i noticed another 4k...
300k? plz?
Soriku (on 01 September 2008)
It sold 4k+ units week 9! Yes! :P

Next week it should hit 240k+. 250k+ imminent!
Soriku (on 25 August 2008)

The next game in the main series is going to be on the Wii :)
Nazkull (on 24 August 2008)
At least, this game is selling more than Tales of Vesperia. Lets hope that there will be more Tales games made for the Nintendo wii.
Soriku (on 24 August 2008)
1k boost! :D Hit 250k in Japan!
whacker41 (on 22 August 2008)
About a 1k boost up from last week.

Hopefully it will stay at 4k a week for a while.
Kenology (on 21 August 2008)
Crawling to 250k in Japan. Should def get there by the end of the year. The Americas will make this a million seller by December for sure.
Soriku (on 19 August 2008)
The game is seeing a minor boost this week...

sc94597 (on 18 August 2008)
Only a few months away. :) Maybe this could do 250k lifetime in Japan. I see it being much larger in the West though.
Lolcislaw (on 16 August 2008)
I cant wait for this game... any news about American/EU release?
Soriku (on 15 August 2008)

Looking at ToV's first week sales...no doubt ToS: DotNW will have bigger sales than ToV. Did anyone expect ToV to outssell ToS: DotNW though? ToV still sold well though.
lin210245 (on 14 August 2008)
Hoffmole (on 14 August 2008)
I hope this sells better than Vespia. I'll pretend it's because I'm sick of Microsoft trying to sell the 360 to Japan by throwing money at JRPG developers, but really it's because deep down I'm a just a petty, snotty little fan boy.
ClaudeLv250 (on 14 August 2008)
"Did you really quote yourself?"

Um, no. That was you...
Egghead (on 11 August 2008)
Was expecting more, dropped a lot
Thekirby45 (on 10 August 2008)
May Buy but I haven't played Much of the Gc Version

I just need a good rpg for the wii
Soriku (on 07 August 2008)
ToS did good in EU so this will definitely hit EU as well.
whacker41 (on 06 August 2008)
Please god, let this game see the light of day in PAL regions.

Soriku (on 03 August 2008)
I wasn't going to lol anyway. I was gone for the week ;)

Anyway...it's been out over a month. No duh it dropped, but it's still maintaining 6k+ a week although it keeps dropping. If it continues like this it might reach 240k-250k+ which would shut up some more people.
DMeisterJ (on 02 August 2008)
Looks like Soriku won't be lol-ing today.

This game dropped off hard.
CrazzyMan (on 25 July 2008)
First week sales:
Famitsu - about 151k
Media Create - 137k
Average between them is - 144k
MontanaHatchet (on 24 July 2008)
Did you really quote yourself?
ClaudeLv250 (on 24 July 2008)
"Claude: This is selling well for a spinoff, but plenty of spinoffs have sold high amounts and far greater amounts than this."

Not Tales, and that's all that matters. Other franchises are a nice excuse, but they have no bearing on reality.
ClaudeLv250 (on 24 July 2008)
Tales games don't have legs so don't hold your breath.
Zucas (on 22 July 2008)
Yes I'm hoping it can hold onto that 10k a week as well. I mean we all knew it would have large dropoffs but we were still hoping that it could hold on. And it's quite possible considering very few Wii titles have held on. So far only the Wii series and Mario Kart Wii which leaves very few legs titles. Maybe this can be added to the bunch.
MontanaHatchet (on 22 July 2008)
Soriku: You know it will happen, but you're just sitting there grinning, leaving it as a "possibility."
Soriku (on 21 July 2008)
Tales sold 11k last week and is going to sell 11k this week (according to TheSource) as well :) TALES LIVES!!!

I'd lol if this hit 300k or something just because of legs.
MontanaHatchet (on 20 July 2008)
Well except that Microsoft pays Japanese companies huge sums of money and often funds development of their RPGs to get them on the 360.

Pure profit is unlikely to be beaten.

And you think that the console with the highest userbase in Japan will be dominant in a genre made solely in Japan, mostly for Japanese people?

Well, I can't say I disagree.
whatever (on 19 July 2008)
@Montana, proud?? lol. Just stating the facts. I'm sure the developer doesn't care about the install base, just sales of the game.

I don't think there is any doubt that by the end of this generation, the Wii will be the dominate JRPG console.
MontanaHatchet (on 19 July 2008)
Whatever: Hmm, you must be so proud that this game is set to outsell Blue Dragon, especially considering that the Wii userbase in Japan is ten times that of the 360's (not to mention that the 360 userbase was even smaller when Blue Dragon launched) and that Blue Dragon is a new IP versus an established IP.

Claude: This is selling well for a spinoff, but plenty of spinoffs have sold high amounts and far greater amounts than this.

But then again, anyone who would have expected better must be an angry fanboy out to get the Wii. Besides, where would the outrage have been for other Tales games? Constant tracking of sales number is a fairly recent phenomenon, and even if people were closely tracking games back when the last Tales spinoff was launched (when was that, now?), it wouldn't matter because nothing except a computer could scan the entirety of the internet to search for bits of text from someone dissatisfied with the sales of a specific game.
whatever (on 18 July 2008)
Will pass Blue Dragon in a week or two to outsell any RPG on the 360 in Japan. Will easily outsell TOV.
Soriku (on 18 July 2008)
200k :)
Faxanadu (on 18 July 2008)
that sounds weird....maybe i need to finish the first before getting into this game.

my problem is time...
Leni (on 18 July 2008)
Tales of Symphonia sold 0.32 in Japan, this can do it as well!!

come on, it's selling good!
Zucas (on 17 July 2008)
Guess we are looking the usual here for this game. About 300k unless it shows some legs. But nothing in Japan aside from Wii series titles, MK Wii, and Monster Hunter have really shown legs there.
ClaudeLv250 (on 17 July 2008)
"Tales spin-offs usually don't sell all that great."

Actually they do...for spinoffs, of course. Quite telling considering that this may be the best selling spinoff yet.

Of course this was never really a problem until angry fanboys started pretending like this game wasn't selling well. I can only wonder where the false outrage for all the other Tales was.
Soriku (on 17 July 2008)

Agree lol. But VGC should have it over 200k...
whacker41 (on 17 July 2008)
I'm sick of waiting for the 2nd week numbers. It's been around 2 weeks since the first week numbers were added.
MontanaHatchet (on 15 July 2008)
Hmm, doesn't sound like a very good game then.

I could do this all day.
Soriku (on 15 July 2008)

Because it has only two playable characters, monsters for party members, no world map (though they really didn't add this because of development time, etc.) =/
Faxanadu (on 15 July 2008)
so why is it that the first ToS is considered main series and the second ToS is now a spin off?

I am confused.
Soriku (on 14 July 2008)

Tales spin-offs usually don't sell all that great. The main series totally own spin-off sales but ToS: DotNW is set to be the best selling Tales spin-off.
MontanaHatchet (on 14 July 2008)
What there's to know about Tales? I know that the game is a spinoff, but it's not like a spinoff selling well is unheard of.
Soriku (on 14 July 2008)

Seeing as how you know nothing about Tales, your answer isn't a surprise :P
MontanaHatchet (on 14 July 2008)

Spinoff schminoff, it doesn't make a difference.
ClaudeLv250 (on 14 July 2008)
Seems like this may become the best selling spinoff in the series to date. Congrats Namco, and more Tales for the Wii!

Now, to see how this performs in the West...
Soriku (on 12 July 2008)
lol. Enough teases ;)
MontanaHatchet (on 12 July 2008)
Soriku: Oh, then Vgchartz must have overtracked it!
Soriku (on 11 July 2008)
What are you talking about? Famitsu has it at 177k.
--OkeyDokey-- (on 11 July 2008)
He's absolutely precious.

Famitsu has it at 26k second week (160k total)
Looks like I was being generous after all.
Might not even hit 200k :)
MontanaHatchet (on 11 July 2008)
OkeyDokey, isn't he adorable?
Kenology (on 10 July 2008)
I remember this happening with ToS1 for GC in NA... lot'sa demand, but not enough copies shipped to retailers. You're right though, the retailers might not have ordered enough copies. I hope the game can atleast reach 200k-250k. :(
Soriku (on 10 July 2008)

It might also be retailers fault...

Namco makes great games and all but when it comes to shipping and such (basically all the stuff that happens after the game is released) Namco pretty much fails at that kind of stuff X_X They need tips from MS lol.
Kenology (on 10 July 2008)
I'm disappointed in Namco for not shipping enough copies of this game after the initial launch. They might've killed the game with such a stupid move. Here's hoping we see decent numbers in week three.
Soriku (on 10 July 2008)
More like Soriku was right all along ;)
--OkeyDokey-- (on 09 July 2008)
lol, Soriku damage control.

*grabs popcorn*
Soriku (on 09 July 2008)
Oh...and it sold 90% of what was left of the shipment this week.

I think it'll reach 200k total in Japan this week. I hope it still outsells ToS on the GC. We'll just have to wait for the next shipment (ship more Namco! >:o)!
Soriku (on 09 July 2008)
TheSource and y-koron said Namco didn't ship any more for this week. They had a few more copies from the first shipment. No wonder sales are low!

MontanaHatchet (on 09 July 2008)
I was teasing, gee.
Soriku (on 08 July 2008)

lol. Well, at least I'm not saying I'll wait for Famitsu/MC :P Besides...it's still VGC numbers. Better to wait for hard numbers than (educated) guesses, eh? Or...whatever you'd like to call TheSource's predictions. Numbers will be up soon anyway. Hopefully tomorrow :3

The announcement of a new main series Tales on the Wii made my sadness go away though :P
MontanaHatchet (on 08 July 2008)
Soriku, you're only waiting for final data because you love this game so much. If it was Metal Gear Solid 4, you'd be claiming its doom before even loading the article :-P
Soriku (on 07 July 2008)
lol Okey stop making predictions!

Meh, read my comment in the article.

I'm still awaiting final VGC data though.
--OkeyDokey-- (on 07 July 2008)
Ouchies indeed. And I was just trying to piss off soriku D:

300k seems unlikely now.
15k third week? :P
outlawauron (on 06 July 2008)
Okey wasn't far off if the prelims are right.

40k second week!

And bundle that with the fact everybody else had it lower. Ouchie.
Soriku (on 06 July 2008)

MontanaHatchet (on 06 July 2008)
OkeyDokey predicted low for Okami as well.
Soriku (on 05 July 2008)

Dude...even ToS on the GC didn't dip that low second week. I bet this could've sold more if Namco shipped more. I mean my God, it sold 90%+ of its total shipment.
whacker41 (on 05 July 2008)
30k sounds a little harsh. I'm gonna guess 70-80k
--OkeyDokey-- (on 04 July 2008)
30k second week.
Soriku (on 03 July 2008)
80k-90k would make me happy. Then 40k-50k, 30k, 20k, 10k, 5k, 3k, 3k again, 2k, dead. I thin, it has potential to reach 380k sales lifetime. 400k if lucky.
Voltaire (on 03 July 2008)
I hope it gets at least 500k before the American release. I think its possible.....a bit of a stretch but it could happen.
bluster (on 03 July 2008)
I would say 80k next week, just as Montana said

In four weeks it will go above 300k
Kihniö (on 03 July 2008)
Maybe 400k in Japan.
But sure it will reach million in worldwide sales.
MontanaHatchet (on 03 July 2008)
I predict 80k 2nd week.
kopstudent89 (on 03 July 2008)
debuts less than the GC version. Still 2nd week sales might be a different story, where the GC version dropped to 40 k
Faxanadu (on 03 July 2008)
thanks Montana.

I would imagine this hits one million.

Good opening in Japan, I think.
MontanaHatchet (on 03 July 2008)
I put up the new box art, gents.
okr (on 13 February 2008)
^Yes, so what? It's a sequel. And the graphics look better, fresher, sharper IMO.

Very nice screenshots.

"The protagonist is named Emil". Emil, nice. Those Japanese developers, you have to love them... :D
Faxanadu (on 02 February 2008)
looks quite similar to the first one.
Soriku (on 26 January 2008)
Added tons more screens.
ClaudeLv250 (on 13 January 2008)
...who are these people claiming to already own the game?
Vanadium (on 11 January 2008)
Added new screenies.
rudyrsr8 (on 28 December 2007)
Updated the game with some info that i found and the pic from the trailer.
Soriku (on 14 August 2007)
This game is gonna be awesome :-D.
lolita (on 14 August 2007)
wow nice screenshots! where are they from? (clueless O-o)
Soriku (on 13 August 2007)
Post! When this comes out I'll remember this post ;-).

goldmario79 (on 10 November 2016)
Just finished ps2 Tales of Abyss before
starting this. The nunchuck works
extremely well for an active battle
system like TOS here.. storyline not so
much...so I guess it about evens out.
b00moscone (on 09 March 2016)
On its own, a pretty solid game, but
doesn't quite live up to Tales of
Symphonia imo.
atma998 (on 30 January 2014)
Finally managed to reach 500k! Guess I
was wrong 3 years ago :)
itachi-89 (on 04 March 2011)
the others sale are 100-150k so its good
for a low budget tales game, so namco
cant complain, they always release the
wrong tales games in west, so i hope the
fans and hardcore players buy tales of
graces F, so namco continue to release
tales games in west. its our last
chance. i have the wii version of graces
and i am going to buy the us and the
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 27 February 2011)
game quality is not even close to ToS,
but still a great game
