-SMT; An endless stream of very high quality games
-FF: Pretty obvious. Excellent games, sans IX and XII.
-Star Ocean: Terrific Universe, battle system.
-Tales of...: Character interaction to the max, great worlds, great battle systems, large anime influence.. the people who killed it should be ashamed :P

- engaging stories, characters, variety of things to do, good combat

-- Grandia:
- Best combat system on any device, generic but engaging stories

- challenging but thoroughly satisfying game mechanics, engaging stories with memorable characters

I agree with your choices, it was really tough fo rme as well. I rated Suikoden higher than FF and Grandia higher than Star Ocean or Tales.

One could argue that Grandia is technically turn based while star ocean and tales are realtime but IMHO Grandia's system is the perfect mix of turnbased and real time.

In terms of realtime, I like star ocean more than tales.

Suikoden, to me just feels more "complete" than Final Fanatsy. Eevry Suikoden game ha a link to the original game (except Suikoden Tierkries for the DS) which makes for a more fleshed out story/history etc.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to play SMT yet (I own several of them but haven't gotten around to playing them).

I own Suikoden 3 but didn't start it yet...

And Grandia... still need to get 'em.

SMT's are.. all terrific, really. Enjoy.

By the end of first chapter you will understand why people like it so much.

Get Suikoden 1 on PSN, it is a great game. Looks amazing on a PSP but doesn't look bad on an HD TV either.
