Tiny Tower Downloaded 10 Million Times

Tiny Tower, the iPhone game developed by NimbleBit, has been downloaded more than ten million times. The game was first released on June 23, 2011. "Tiny Tower lets you build a tiny tower and manage the businesses and bitizens that inhabit it!" says the game's iTunes page. The game currently has a four and a half out of five star customer rating and is one of the most popular iOS games.

Ian Marsh, NimbleBit founder Tweeted, "To celebrate Tiny Tower reaching 10 million iOS downloads we're giving away over 10 million Tower Bux to players! Log in today!" According to the developers Facebook page, NimbleBit was founded in 2007 by "twin brothers Ian and David Marsh, creating electronic amusements for your pleasure."

Of course I'm fucking stupid. They have these pop-ups every once in a while, and they had one announcing this, and they were giving 10 free Tower Bux with the pop-up, but because I naturally press no thanks to all the other pop-ups, I did with that one too, and not getting the 10 tower bux. I'm so stupid.

Was it a free game with pay to play DLC later on? Or did they make money right off the bat with a price tag?
