Epic Mickey 2 Confirmed for Holiday 2012
by Jake Weston, posted on 05 January 2012 / 1,008 ViewsIt was confirmed yesterday by the official Disney newsletter that 2010's Wii exclusive Epic Mickey will be getting a multiplatform release this holiday season. This confirmed rumors from earlier this week and last week that the Warren Spector helmed project would be getting a sequel.
Also confirmed is the addition of co-op, allowing Mickey Mouse to team up with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, the antagonist of the first game, as they once again visit the forgotten realms of Disney lore. Like the first game, different endings can be achieved depending on the actions players take over the course of the game.
It's currently unknown whether or not Warren Spector (the brains behind games such as System Shock, Thief, and the original Deus Ex) will be returning for the sequel. Spector's involvement with the first game was a huge selling point for many, but Spector was also very publicly displeased with the first game's mixed critical reception.
Spector's creative vision was one of the better aspects of Epic Mickey, which suffered from camera and control problems. I would love to see Spector come back to improve upon the sequel. In any case, Epic Mickey 2 will receive a multiplatform release for PS3, X360, and WIi this holiday.
