First Exclusive Images/Details of New MK Klassic Fight Stick - News

by VGChartz Staff , posted on 14 May 2011 / 7,901 Views

It was announced a few days ago that Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection was coming to the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in late summer. After talking to a couple people-in-the-know at the Mortal Kombat tournament being held in Vegas this morning, I can confirm a few things about it. But first, pictures of the new tournament stick!

Ooh... pretty. It's based on the cabinet art for the original Mortal Kombat from 1992 (and you can check out a few more pics in the gallery below). However, despite some recent allusions to the otherwise, the buttons are in the same configuration as the official PDP tournament fight stick that released alongside Mortal Kombat (the new one). The button colors are different, however, with punch buttons that match (red), and kick buttons that match (blue).

Another notable difference: this one doesn't open up, giving you a place to store your games, cords, and lunch. That fact means it's cheaper for PDP to produce, but one advantage for the player is that it makes it really easy to open up and repair the buttons if you beat them into submission.

The sticks will be limited to a run of 6,000 units for the 360 and 6,000 units for the PS3. There is no PC version. Each stick will include a download code for the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection (which I also learned will be launched in August, a more definite timeframe than "late summer"), and will retail for $129.99, exclusively at GameStop. You can preorder your individually numbered, collector-worthy stick here, and make sure you stayed tuned to gamrFeed for the next few days as I continue to bring you tales of interest from the tournament.

@CDiablo:

Oh, PDP had all their other peripherals out on the table, too, and that was just next to it. :)

The MK button layout is useless for any game except MK. I expect to see the LE ones for MK9 in the bargain bin within a year. I am excited for the MK collection cause Ultimate is my favorite in the series. I actually dont like 9 cause there is no run in it.

A bit OT: What is with that weird 6 button XBOX controller in the background of the pics?
