Americas Preorders Chart 11 September 2010 - Halo Reach 2 Million

Overview - Halo Reach (X360) hits 2 million pre-orders in its final week before release, as 3 other games are also set to be released. Several games are on the rise as pre-orders increase at a faster rate. Gran Turismo 5 remains steady, as Call of Duty Black Ops is increasing the gap over Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

Games in final week before release –  It is a big week as 4 games are in their final week before release. The amount of releases will continue to increase as the holidays approach.

Halo Reach vs Modern Warfare 2

The biggest game this week is Halo Reach (X360) as it hits 2 million pre-orders passing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (X360) as the most pre-ordered game on a single platform in America. VGChartz estimates first week sales of 4.25 million worldwide.

The second highest game is Sports Champions (PS3) which comes bundled with most of the Move bundles, accept with the stand-alone controllers. The game is at 33,000 pre-orders in its final week. Expect first week sales in America to be in the 50,000 and 60,000 range.

EyePet (PS3) is also in its final week, as the game requires an eyetoy which Move requires. It is at 28,000 pre-orders, so expect first week sales in America to be in the 45,000 to 55,000 range.

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (DS) is the only other game in the top 50 to be in its final week before release. It reached 27,000 pre-ordered, therefore expect first week sales in the 40,000 to 50,000 range.

Other Hot Games

GT5

Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) pre-orders remain steady adding another 7,000 on the week for a total of 173,000. The game is currently 8 weeks from release.

BO vs MW2

Call of Duty: Black Ops combined pre-orders for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version are currently outpacing the combined pre-orders of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 by 201,000 for a total of 1,045,000 with 9 weeks left until release. If this keeps up it will become the biggest opening for a game ever.

Also in the top 10 is Medal of Honor as pre-orders are at 559,000 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version combined, as the game added 29,000 pre-orders on the week. Fallout: New Vegas pre-orders are up on the week adding another 43,000 pre-orders for the X360, PS3, and PC versions combined, for a total of 508,000. Fable 3 (X360) with seven weeks until release adds another 36,000 pre-orders this week for a total of 296,000. World of WarCraft: Cataclysm (PC) adds 47,000 pre-orders as the game shoots into the top 10 with 256,000 pre-orders to date. Final Fantasy XIV Online (PC) with 3 weeks until release adds 17,000 pre-orders for a total of 181,000.

Notable mentions outside the top 10: Kinect Adventures! adds 8,000 pre-orders for a total of 115,000 with 8 weeks until release. Disney Epic Mickey is at 41,000 pre-orders with 6,000 on the week with 8 weeks left until release.

amacfantasy reach releases on 14 and thats 11 so 3 days before reachs release so yes it passed 2 mill in america before release

Looks like the past month except for Halo: Reach surpassing Modern Warfare 2's preorders. Wait...Wow Medal of Honor is really catching on.

Why every week is gt5 a hot game? Every week it has a pretty pathetically small increase and there are other games in the same time frame getting much bigger increases. Can't we ignore GT5 unless something actually happens? Surely fallout or fable 3 deserve a look at how they are comparing to the previous games etc.

not many psn friend i met through playing gt5 prologue online knew about the gt5 release especially europeans. well, sony, you have to do some advertisements i think. I am sick of watching halo reach ads 20 times a day from 50 different channels.

@greyianstorm this is at 11th it releases at 14 so its not even a question if in the 3 days before release will ther me 8k more preorders

@GreyianStorm well man when something is away from 2 million for only 8000(in fact it is 7921) then you can easily say that it hits 2 million because this number is insignificant to the total number that it has... but enough with teaching.. Go to your math teacher to learn more...

How can a clone of a good system not be compelling? Not saying Move is a clone of Wii-which it isn't*-but Wii has had many good games that use this system intuitively. Also, oni-link, can you name me one Kinect game you're personally excited for because I can't see any that appeal to me at least. *Look at videos of Richard Marks from 2004 where he discusses motion control.

I'm not too worried about the Epic yarn or DKC as they will sell regardless of preorders. Unless the Wii Piracy issue has really gotten out of hand!!! N/E ways Pezus got it right it is 3.5M for X360 not 6M; but still a "BUTT KICKING" on M$ part. I see this dominance continue thru the holidays; as Sony has nothing compelling coming up except their Wii Clone that is the PS-Move. Not that it's a bad thing...it's just been done before unlike Kinect!!! Viva Motion Control as it proves Ninty, was right all along!!! Now hopefully they bring us Wii-HD this E3 :)

Why does it say Halo Reach crossed 2 million pre-orders, but the chart shows Halo Reach at 1.992 million? I get that 1.992 is very close to 2 million (and is still a massive milestone as it is above anything before it), but it still seems wrong to say "Halo Reach (X360) hits 2 million pre-orders"

@ cloud1161 I'm sorry bro - but when the 360 has such a large margin more pre-orders than Sony products (particularly with Kinect vs. Move) -- yea, MS is trampling Sony in the US. Keep spinning it and dreaming dude.

X360 is KICKING PS3 ass in terms of software sales!!! X360 has 6.2M preorders in the top 10 whilst PS3 only accounts for 820K!!! I look and give M$ the winner this holiday season!

Disappointed with GT5 pre-orders that's why games should not be delayed and should complete in given time period. Same thing happen to Alan wake,Too human
