Sonic 4: Episode 1 Good News and Bad News

On SEGA's official blog, they revealed the fourth platform for Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode I.

"Those of you with iPhones and iPod Touches, rejoice! Today, we’re also officially revealing that the fourth platform for Sonic 4 is indeed that lovely little device with enough apps to save the world."

The bad news falls in the shadow of further good news. The game is spending more time in development and won't launch until the second half of 2010.

"SEGA has made the decision to ensure that Sonic 4: Episode I is a game worthy of bearing the weight of its name. To do so, we’ve decided to extend the game’s development – and, for the first time ever, we’ve mixed internal suggestions alongside fan feedback to make some new, positive changes to the game."

Gameplay looks identical to Sonic Advance 2, all speed, no PLATFORMING, what a comeback!

Yeah the episodes idea isn't jiving with me as Sicko said, NSMB and LBP sold damn well as retail titles.

Superb news, the iphone/touch is doing so well right now with all developers jumping on board, so happy i sold my psp and ds to get a ipos touch!

oh gosh sega, really?! Release this in FULL, not in episodes ... Also release it on disc .. i mean its SONIC 4 ... ive been waiting for sonic 4 since sonic 3 back in like ... 1995 or something, lame

Lol, 2 exclusive Level on IPhone. No Sonic fans is buying a Iphone only because of sonic. Monkey Ball was terrible to play on the IPhone.

The 4th platform? So the game is coming out on Wii, PS3, 360 and ipod but NOT PSP or DS? That's a little odd. Especially considering the sucess of Sonic Rush on DS.

hahaha for a second i thought it was ONLY coming out on the iphone but so what we have to wait... It's been like what?... 15yrs 5 months or so won't hurt anyone.

THis game should have been a full retail game... and not an [probably incomplete] Episode 1 thing... Sonic still deserves better.
