There have been rumors of new Nintendo Switch models in the works, however, Nintendo has denied claims new versions of the hybrid console are in development. Now Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa during a shareholders Q&A session was specifically asked about the rumored new Switch model.

"While we are aware there has been coverage to that effect, we cannot comment in regards to speculation and rumors about new hardware or software, said Furukawa. "It would spoil the surprise for consumers and is against the interests of our shareholders, so we are withholding any discussion."

"We are constantly developing new hardware and new software. We’ll let you know as soon as anything is ready to be announced," he added.

Thanks DualShockers.

Well, duh! If they reveal the new models too early the sales for the old ones will drop.

Well, at least they didn't say it doesn't exist like they did with DS Lite even though there was leaked marketing material.

I bet they're waiting to release it until Switch sales die down a bit. A Switch Mini + their 2019 lineup would drive sales past Nintendo's ability to keep up with demand.

The next thing is always coming. The Switch’s successor is also coming. It’s not like the hardware division’s going on a long vacation after a new release, they are working on the next thing since probably before Switch even released. That’s what he’s saying. Nothing will come this year though.
