This week, EA Sports broke the trend of poor performing sports games at launch, as NHL Arcade performed admirably on the week. Being multi-platform whilst doing so is also a major feat, as the PSN version was likely to sell ~10,000-12,500 units on the week.
Although the market is down due to reductions in Top-20 game sales, XBLA continues to perform well, as evidenced by strong sales of non-Top 10 games, and a Christmas-like mix of sales for lower-charting games.
Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting hit a milestone this week, accumulating 500,00 units sold, and $5m in revenue. This is great news for Capcom, as it's sequel, SF2THD is performing very well, and is nearing the 250,000 sold/$4m Revenue mark as well.

@XanderZane: It depends whether or not you publish yourself or let Microsoft do it. If you publish yourself you keep 70% of the revenue, but you have to pay publishing costs.
You can make some good money on XBLA if your game is good and you keep your production costs low. If you spend say $100K on making a game, you only need to sell over 20,000 units to start making a profit. M$ takes 1/2 of the profit I believe. He said Braid cost about $500K to make, but it has made almost $4 million. that's a huge profit as about 2 million would go to the developers. So that almost 1.5 million in profit. Not bad considering the game was probably made by a small group of developers in just over a year or so.
It must be good for these indie developers to have money coming in consistantly like this. Xbox Live Arcade games sell, hell even at a slow rate its still a fairly steady income.
Live arcade is just a massive massive money spinner for MS and developers. The games cost hardly anything to make. Digital distribution so no production costs, no marketing no retailers. It just a money making machine.
I have said it before but live is just a beast for ms and the xbox franchise. Its just impossible for nintendo and sony to create what ms have with live. They dont have the money or experience in net architecture to ever match it.

jonager - It really depends on the game. Some are as low as $50,000 for a community game or very simple XBLA port, up to $500,000+ for a top-end game. For example, Braid (from what I've read and seen) cost around $400,000, and is one of the most popular XBLA games of 2008.
Egghead - Not many. Maybe 4,500 of the 230,000 users. Roughly 100,000 are from the United States, which makes up the (obvious) bulk of sales.

Castle Crashers has better legs than many full retail games, awesome. Sadly the Maw seems to have really dropped off.
Jackson - I edited it to remove as many of the 'free' copies as possible. Since they weren't sold to consumers for cash...I thought it'd be better to remove as much of it's revenue as possible.
