Breath of the Wild is well over 4 million. Don't forget the Wii U version sold over a million. It's closer to 5 million.

Mario Kart 8 DX has new content and released three years later. BotW is the same game that launched on the same day.

MK8D Released with extra DLC already included. It's a port. Wikipedia also lists it under MK8. It's not worth making an extra page for it, because it's the same game. Yet you're willing to treat it different from BOTW because of the release date difference? BOTW is also an enhanced version of the Wii U version. Bringing extra functions like higher pixel count. Content!

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe also has a completely new Battle Mode with five different game types and eight new maps that isn't available in the Wii U version at all.

What was it that was announced by Ninty for June 30th? 3.54 million, including digital and bundles? I wonder how much it stands by now.

It should have sold at least 1 million since then, so maybe it's already over 5 million.

Wait, if it already did 3,54m shipped+digital as of june 30th, wouldn't that mean that it's undertracked on VGC. This news is as of September second. That's two months later. According to VGC MK8D sells around 250k per month WW. Even if we assume high digital sales of like 250k, that would still leave almost 750k unaccounted for by june 30th. I refuse to believe nintendo supposedly has had a surplus of 750k on store shelves.

It's late though, maybe I'm thinking wrong?

It's very hard to ignore digital sales on the Switch, when you consider how good Nintendo are at keeping their file sizes reasonable and this game was available at midnight on launch date, plus you have the added fact that if you go digital you don't have to be worrying about minding cartridges or changing them on the go.

Would think there is a lot of people who will be leaning towards eshop more this Gen with Nintendo.

@SuperNova It's not 3.54M shipped, it's 3.54M sold :-) https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/finance/software/index.html
So if we account the current selling trend of MK8DX here on VG, and assuming that it does sell 250k WW per month, so yes, the game may stand as of now near 4,3M. I'm pretty sure digital sales are excellent for this game + we undertracked a lot.

That's a handy dandy website I didn't know existed! :D
Nintendo usually reports shipped+digital and not sold in, wich is why I assumed that was the case here too, but if this is actually sold in then it's even more undertracked than I thought!
