Nintendo announced Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold 459,000 units first day on the Nintendo Switch in the US. The figure includes retail and digital sales. That equals an attach rate of 45 percent.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the fastest-selling game in franchise history. The previous record holder was Mario Kart Wii, with sales of 433,900 units in the US.

45% attach rate on day 1. The Switch has been insane so far, with people owning it being pretty dedicated to 1st party games. This is also looking at Japans insane Pre-orders of Splatoon 2

That's every Nintendo console / handheld though. THey mainly buy first party games, 3rd party content suffers, and the device lives or dies based on the price of the hardware (handheld succeeds regardless) and first party content.

I totally agree, but I have never seen a console with such an high attach rate. Sure it will die down, but seeing how the console is so hard to find... I would think that people would be buying to sell online. Yet we are seeing Zelda outsell the Switch, Mario Kart 8 selling near 50% day one (with users reporting shortage), and Splatoon 2 having insanely high pre-orders.

Of course the hype will die down and the attach rate will lower (Still like you said Nintendo's attach rate is bar none, maybe Grand Theft Auto IMO). Though if the shortage continues like reported through 2017 into 2018, then Sony and Microsoft will take note. The Wii was an unstoppable success and both consoles wanted in the movement faze of gaming (PS3 controller, move, and Kinect).

I'm rooting for Nintendo, they are the Sears of the video game industry. They don't devalue their products, they generally (from what I've seen) add value to their games (through free DLC), they show care for their consumers, innovate constantly, and have the best franchises on the planet right alongside Micky Mouse House. These are characters they have made in house which is something that the MouseHouse hasn't had in a decent amount of time.

I'm not kissing their ass, I have a Kratos Image, I've been with Sony since PS2. Nintendo is just firing everywhere I want them to as a customer.

It's a great game with an incredible amount of content. Well deserved! I'm still arguing with my purse if i should get it or not, since i already bought it on the WiiU. I mean, I will defenitely buy it, I just don't know yet when.

Keep in mind too Kober the price of First Party Nintendo titles rarely drops that much lower in the months after launch, you're unlikely to save much money by holding out to buy it down the line I mean even preowned right now MKDS is €28 still, MKWii is €22 and MK7 is €35 on CEX's site so yeah... would be waiting a long time before you could pick this up cheap I'd say.
