October 2016 is the 36th month of the Xbox One being on sale. The gap decreased during the month when compared to the Xbox 360’s 36th month on sale by 125,317 units in favor of the Xbox 360 and 583,148 units in the last 12 months. The Xbox One currently leads by 1.97 million units.
Both consoles launched in November. The Xbox 360 launched in November 2005, while the Xbox One launched in November 2013. The Xbox One has sold 23.82 million units, while its predecessor the Xbox 360 sold 21.85 million units.

I think everyone, including MS, knows XB1 will not sell 85 million units in it's lifetime. It's not gonna beat the 360. Chances are, it's going to sell around 65 million units, provided it peaks next year, rather than this year.
