This monthly series compares the combined aligned sales of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with the combined aligned sales of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

 

This particular chart compares aligned sales for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox combined versus the combined sales of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The gap has grown for two straight months in favor of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The gap in the latest month grew by 202,100 units so that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One lead by a combined 13.11 million units.

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in their first 20 months sold a combined 24.23 million units, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have sold a combined 37.34 million units.

Total Combined PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Sales: 24,229,386

Total Combined PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Sales: 37,342,738

I laugh everytime someone says this is the last console generation. This generation may be behind, but that's only because the casuals Nintendo cashed in during 7th gen are either leaving or becoming real gamers. Nothing seems to be cashing in on gimmicks this generation, so all of the numbers are legitimate gamers.

But will it be enough when PS3 and Xbox 360 will pick up wind? It's already almost flat outside the fall and holiday season, if they don't continue to speed up the lead will start to slowly decrease starting next year
