PS4 vs Xbox One vs Wii U Japan Lifetime Sales – May 2015 Update - Wii U 2.3M, PS4 1.5M, Xbox One 54K - Sales

Welcome to the latest edition of the ‘PS4 vs Xbox One vs Wii U Japan’ article. This series compares monthly and lifetime sales of the 8th generation of home consoles - the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U.

Looking at the total sales of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U in in Japan for May shows how big a lead the Wii U managed to start with over its competitors. However, the PlayStation 4 has now outsold the Wii U for nine straight months and is slowly but surely catching up. The Xbox One is almost non-existent in the land of the rising sun.

The Wii U has sold 2.35 million units lifetime, the PlayStation 4 1.47 million units, and the Xbox One 54,058 units.

PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 1,466,228

Xbox One Total Sales: 54,058

Wii U Total Sales: 2,346,460

The PlayStation 4 has outsold the Wii U every month since September 2014. The PlayStation 4 and Wii U have both outsold the Xbox One every month since it launched in September 2014.

The PlayStation 4 outsold the Wii U by 9,202 units in the month of May and the Xbox One by 48,892 units. The Wii U outsold the Xbox One by 39,690 units.

When you compare monthly sales to a year ago the PlayStation 4 is up and the Wii U is down. The PlayStation 4 is up 20,444 units and the Wii U is down 1,755 units.

PlayStation 4 Monthly Sales: 49,978

Xbox One Monthly Sales: 1,086

Wii U Monthly Sales: 40,776
