This monthly series compares the combined aligned sales of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with the combined aligned sales of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 both had slow starts, while the PS4 and Xbox One both had the two biggest launches in gaming history.

The gap has continued to grow now for four straight months in favor of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The gap grew in May by 11,802 units. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One lead by a combined 13.14 million units.

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in their first 19 months sold a combined 22.91 million units, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have sold a combined 36.05 million units:

Total Combined PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Sales: 22,911,448

Total Combined PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Sales: 36,053,118

It's crazy how the Ps4 is ahead of the two combined on its own. So all the xbox one sales add to the gap.

Seems to me that the market for core gamers is still healthy. The Wii audience have moved on but the coremarket hasn't changed to much since sixth gen

It amazes me with such lousy software presently and for the rest of year, along with a fragile network that Sony does so well.

But hey, 1080p makes games better, right?
