Grand Theft Auto V Made $31.8M in Digital Revenue in January - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 01 March 2015 / 3,869 ViewsGrand Theft Auto V topped worldwide digital console revenue chart in January, according to the latest Superdata information and reported by VG247. The game brought in $31.8 million digitally. The figure includes copies of the game sold on Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network, as well as the revenue from DLC and microtransactions.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was the second highest grossing game in January with $23.5 million. Destiny brought in $14.2 million, while new release Dying Light made $12.0 million. Battlefield 4 made $11.7 million and Resident Evil HD Remastered made $10.8 million.
Other games in the top 10 include Minecraft at number seven with worldwide digital console revenue of $10.3 million. Call of Duty: Ghosts made $9.2 million, Madden NFL 15 made $6.1 million Call of Duty: Black Ops II made $3.5 million.

If the next Destiny game gets the sort of critical reception Activision was hoping for the first game, Activision may well be publishing the game that finally does become a CoD killer, after so many tries from EA had varying levels of unsuccess. When Titanfall goes fully multiplat and actually adds a SP campaign it could rival CoD and Destiny. I think EA will be more determined than ever to see TF go multiplat to really competefor supremacy, at least in the sci-fi FPS space.
Destiny is certainly a surprise especially after all the bad reviews and bad press it had when it launched.
Digital console revenue is exploding this gen and that's with continued beastly sales at retail. Thank God the doom mongers were wrong!
