Last minute is right. All the desperadoes who are still not done buying presents have some deciding to do. Pretty good call if you held off and held off waiting for that white bundle to finally drop under $400.

It's like a last attempt to decreas MS' NPD lead.

Nah. Sony don't care about NPD, because it's pointless to them. Aggregate sales are what matter to them, not sales across a specific 30 days in the US. NPD gives them nothing but a little extra PR cannon fire, which is of little value.

This is just another in a long string of Best Buy sales trying to get gamers to switch their business to Best Buy, as well as a last move out some Destiny bundle stock in preparation for new shipments in 2015.

I think they are considering the threat of this starting a real trend that continues after the holidays. Their lead is great enough that it wont effect Aggregate sales for a long time but if the US continues to show the XB1 more support its just a matter of time before that bottom line starts to see some fluctuation. On the other hand, despite the Wii U being the more popular console in Japan, the unpopularity of the "western" XB1 should kinda balance things out for the PS4 so long as it continues to dominate Europe.
