Welcome to the VGChartz Gap charts. The charts will be updated monthly and each article will focus on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation, as well as comparing the 8th generation consoles. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.
PS4 Vs. PS3 Global:
Gap change in latest month: 1,530,679 – PS4
Gap change over last 12 months: 7,475,813
Total Lead: 9,214,423 – PS4
PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 15,853,215
PlayStation 3 Total Sales: 6,638,792
November 2014 is the 13th month the PlayStation 4 is on sale. The gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 4 when compared to the 123h month the PlayStation 3 was on sale. The gap increased by 1.53 million units, to bring it to 9.21 million units.
Both consoles launched in November. The PlayStation 3 launched in November 2006, while the PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013. In its first 13 months on sale the PlayStation 4 has sold a total 15.85 million units, while the PlayStation 3 has sold 6.64 million units.
