by William D'Angelo , posted on 16 October 2014 / 9,943 ViewsNintendo's UK marketing boss Shelly Pearce has stated in an interview that the Wii U has had a good year so far. Sales for the consoles are up 60 percent year-over-year, due to the success of Mario Kart 8.
"We've really seen momentum pick up with Mario Kart 8 back in May," said Pearce. "T attitudes to Wii U. People are starting to consider buying now, which was cemented by our E3 activity. All the software that we showed then gave people confidence that there were lots of games comhat was when we saw a step change, not just in terms of sales but also people'sing that they wanted."
"One of the key things for us is that people are staring to realise what software there is, what games they can get this Christmas, but importantly a lot of key stuff that is coming next year, too," Pearce added. "It is a really strong line-up."
"We are expecting to see real growth from Wii U this Christmas and we will continue to build on that next year," she concluded.
Pearce said the big games for the Wii U in 2015 are Splatoon, Captain Toad and the new Zelda title.

You should add "UK" to the title. Doesn't sound like they're talking about global figures.
What the hell? Did you SPELL CHECK this article?! Terrible! Just... terrible spelling. You drunk?
Whenever a company gives comparisons with percentages and not numbers, I always assume it's not "good".
Actually, the usual practice for "year for year" comparison IS to use a percentage comparison. A rough number of money doesn't tell you much about how a product or a company actually did better. Let's say you just publicly announce that your sale are "100M better than last year". We have no idea how much better it is because we can'T tell what's the average a customers is expected to pay (for instance, a console sale is going to boost the total sales number much faster than a game sale, 400$ is bigger than 60$). While 60% IS a solid and precise measurement of how better it went. There HAS to be 60% more product sold, no matter what's the pricing. Do some research and look for year to year comparison among every company you can find some financial record and you'll be amazed how you're idea of the percentage is wrong.
all he has to do is copy and paste the title of the original article..... keyword: UK!
NPD report in September for US told us how well it is and it is getting better. People seem to think a system seller just brings in loads of sales, it does, but what Mario Kart 8 does best is that it keeps good sales going on for months. That's what you need, not big sales and then it's back down to selling what it did before.
I think that 2015 will be it's peak year. Smash and MK8 will continue to sell, Amiibo will be in full steam, and the 1+ retail game a Month will keep the momentum going/increasing to an extent after another baseline jump from Smash Bros.
Just my positive thoughts.
It's amazing what game releases can do, although...last year was horrible for the Wii U.
"Pearce said the big games for the Wii U in 2015 are Splatoon, Captain Toad and the new Zelda title." So, no Xeno in 2015?
Worst article i read in a looming while.
Full of spelling & factual errors...

60% up from terrible sales is still considered bad tough.
