Microsoft has announced that shipments for the Xbox 360 have reached the 84 million mark. This is up from 80 million in October of last year. Also lifetime game sales have hit $37.7 billion, as well as more than 88 billion hours of games have been played on the console. That is more than 100 million years.

Also available today at retail is the $399 Xbox One without a Kinect. The standalone Kinect will be released later this year. However, the price has not been announced yet.

"Today we're thrilled to offer our fans more choices to play the games they love and to enjoy all of their entertainment with the new Xbox One option for $399," Xbox marketing executive Yusuf Mehdi said in a statement.

I wouldnt be surprised VGCharts has always been anti-MS, pro Nintendo with a Sony fanbase.

Yeah, you probably believe that there is 84 million 360's sitting on the store shelves, moron. Divulging units shipped is a perfectly acceptable way to sales. Many companies do it. DERP

Like always, Microsoft's said "shipments". Who care about the quantity on shelves. Same as XB1... BS move !

bigfatshady (on 11 June 2014)

Grow up. You really thin that 84 million are sitting on store shelves?? Go look at the last gen graph here on this site. Global sales are now tied at 82.3 million each. Now what you got to say?
