Overview
There are three games in the top 30 to be in its final week: Titanfall for the Xbox One and Xbox 360, Dark Souls II for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and Yoshi’s New Island (3DS).
Seven games have 200,000 or more pre-orders, up from six last week, and the top 12 has 100,000 or more pre-orders, down from 15 last week. Two games added 20,000 or more pre-orders, the same as last week and seven added 10,000 or more, the same as last week.
Games in Final Week Before Launch
Titanfall (XOne) added 62,898 pre-orders for a grand total of 441,364. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 500,000 to 700,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between two million and three million units lifetime in the US.
Titanfall (PC) added 4,349 pre-orders for a grand total of 79,015. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 100,000 to 160,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 400,000 and 600,000 units lifetime in the US.
Dark Souls II (PS3) added 18,269 pre-orders for a grand total of 218,413. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 250,000 to 350,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 500,000 and 800,000 units lifetime in the US.
Dark Souls II (X360) added 13,631 pre-orders for a grand total of 151,044. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 175,000 to 250,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 400,000 and 700,000 units lifetime in the US.
Yoshi’s New Island (3DS) added 2,676 pre-orders for a grand total of 50,680. Expect first week sales in the USA at retail to be in the 60,000 to 100,000 unit range. Expect the game to sell between 300,000 and 500,000 units lifetime in the US.
Major Performers in the U.S. – Week Ending March 15
South Park: The Stick of Truth (X360) sales are expected to drop to around 60,000 units in its second week on sale. The PlayStation 3 version is expected to drop to around 50,000 units. The PC version is expected to drop to around 8,000 units.
Xbox One hardware and software sales are expected to increase four or five times. Overall hardware and software sales are expected to remain relatively flat.
Other Hot Games – In Order of Release
inFAMOUS: Second Son (PS4) added 34,234 pre-orders, up from 30,421 last week, for a total of 285,145. The game is two weeks away from launch in the USA, March 21, 2014.
Notable mentions: Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster (PS3) added 11,600 pre-orders for a total of 201,734. Titanfall (X360) added 11,186 pre-orders for a total of 90,968. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS4) added 18,482 pre-orders for a total of 72,816.
Requests: Quantum Break (XOne) added 33 pre-orders for a total of 12,677. Uncharted PS4 (PS4) added 441 pre-orders for a total of 10,445. X (WiiU) added 22 pre-orders for a total of 3,199.
