February 2014 is the fourth month that the PlayStation 4 is on sale. When you compare it with the bestselling 7th generation console, the Wii, it is currently outpacing it. In the first three months, the PlayStation 4 currently leads by 1,100,642 units. However, the gap did shrink slightly by 1,824 units.
Both consoles launched in November. The Wii launched in November 2006, while the PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013. The PlayStation 4 has sold 6,009,474 units in four months, while the Wii sold 4,909,832 units.

Probably PS4 will not die with 5 years like Wii and will continue selling well for the next 7/8 years
Just wondering, what was the Wii's price?
$250 at launch
This is by far the most interesting comparison, I wonder how its gonna end? Will the ps4 out sell the wii? Shitz gonna be interesting, thats for sure
1,824 unit difference last month - With PS3's launch in Japan......not good for the PS4, I expect the gap to collapse fast.
Lifetime PS4 will probably still end up on top. Wii lost steam after only 3 years.
Shadow1980 I think the true "Caveat" here is that this comparison does not include the PS4's massive 11 month preorder window that literally gave it a head start of over 1 million units and greatly improved its future sales by giving the media recourse to imply that those 1 million plus sales all took place in a matter of 24 hours.
I'd like to request that VGChartz posts a Gap Chart that displays sales dated from when each console became available for purchase to the present so that we could look at some more realistic figures.
wow so PS4 sales were even better than PS3?
WiiU came out Fall 2012, PS4 came out Fall 2013 and already ahead of Wii U?
i have a Wii U launch day but damn i have never touch it sitting dust since summer of 2013 :(
i used it to watch netflix and youtube instead of gaming now. sad.
PS4 i never care about, bro bought one i only watch netflix on it too. hope youtube app will be available on PS4.
Xbone, i never really give a crap about it at that price and Killer INstinct was the only game i want but it wa s abeta, i ain't wasting $550+ for a sitting dust console.
you cant really compare because the wii was the super casual console, lots of old people and moms bought fro fitness and things, nobody really took the wii as console for gamers
I think what @Dechizen is saying was that the Wii sales were boosted by those who didn't buy consoles before and aren't really going to buy them again (retirement homes, church recreational places, etc…) And the PS4 is doing remarkable seeing as though they aren't getting those aforementioned non-gamers.
Utterly rubbish. Wii has some amazing games, when you play on a console that has the likes of madworld on it and you suggest it hasn't "core games" nonsense
