Samsung has announced that its Galaxy S smartphone series of phones has sold more than than 100 million units. The very first Galaxy S phone was released in May 2010. That averages to about 3.23 million smartphones every single month.

"Samsung Electronics’ flagship Galaxy S series surpassed the accumulated sales record of 100 million units from the supply side in only 2 years and 7 months after its launch in May 2010," read the report.

The Galaxy S III smartphone is the most recent model and is the fastest selling. It took 50 days to pass one million sold, but after five months it managed to pass 30 million. It also took seven months for it to sell 30 million units. Samsung is selling about 190,000 Galaxy S III's every single day.

Samsung also said that the Galaxy S II has sold more than 40 million units in 20 months. The Galaxy S III has sold nearly three times as fast as its predecessor.

It's really great to see that people are stopping buying smart phones just for the brand and actually looking at the sheer horsepower that the Samsung Galaxy series has for their price. Much gratz to Samsung for this.

And way better value than the iPhone. When I went to the store in October to buy a new one I could buy the S3 or the iPhone 4s for the same price and they were out of stock of even more expensive iPhone 5's! Like WTF? The choice was obvious

My mom and sister have some variations of the Galaxy. I really don't know how to work those phones, and even they have issues learning how to use them. Still, they are good hardware, but I'm happy with what I have. Kudos for passing the mark, Samsung!

Samsung Galaxy S3 is a great phone but I changed to a HTC Titan Windows phone because Galaxy Kies did my head in. The HTC is a better built piece of Hardware as well.

I still use my iPhone 3GS but I am impressed by the new Galaxy S III that my brother recently upgraded to. Especially the camera functionality.

There are many different versions of the Samsung Galaxy so this isn't a surprise. I know at my job we the Samsung Galaxy Continuum and the Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere. They're both cheap phones that you can usually get free with a two-year contract.

Why Galaxy has critical hardware problems(google yourself) but still can sell 100M units to the costumers?like xbox360 did in US.

Advertisement means more under none customer caring rules indeed.

Tell Japanese again, advertisement means more in this kind of market.

I think there's a typo for the sales number after five months.

Great sales though, I have a S2 and it's an amazing phone, looking forward to my S3 (or probably S4 by the time my contracts up....)

I've come to the conclusion that Samsung phones are overrated and glitchy. I know a number of people with Galaxy phones including the SIII and every person has had glitch problems of one sort or another. On the other hand all the Motorola phones I've come across have been quite solid. Having said that, when Galaxy phones work they do work well. I'll be sticking with Motorola or Xperia though.
