Remedy has announced that it's franchise, Alan Wake has surpassed the two million mark. This is following the release of the PC version of Alan Wake, as well as the release of the Xbox Live Arcade title Alan Wake's American Nightmare.Oskari Hakkinen, Remedy's head of franchise development, spoke with Gamasutra clarifying that this is total number of units sold to consumers, rather than shipped. The figure also includes all Xbox and PC sales, both digital and retail.

According to VGChartz, the Xbox 360 version of Alan Wake has sold 1,114,796 units worldwide at retail. The USA makes up half of the sales with 533,707 units sold, while the game has sold 378,784 in Europe. The rest of the world makes up the other 202,305 units sold. The game is also available as a digital download on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the digital download version was bundled with the Xbox 360 during the holiday season in 2010. VGChartz does not track digital download sales.

I can only assume the game must have been reasonably close to 2 million (maybe 1.8-1.9 or so) and the PC version simply pushed it over the edge. Surprised we didn't hear when they passed 1 or 1.5million though (maybe we did and I forgot?)

Not bad, still can't forget that topic where everyone (including me) thought Alan Wake would outsell Heavy Rain. That was never the case.

I actually helped, by purchasing the PC version. Not a bad game, but I doubt I will finish it. Not that I dont like it, mostly because I have plenty other projects ( non-gaming) on my plate right now :(

IMO it deserved more. Im not the biggest fan, but 2 million after expansions and PC release, its just absymal for a project this big. They probably hit profitability with the franchise, but still, for the new ideas and amazing graphical effects alone, this game deserved more :(

The first impressions of Alan Wake years ago and for the PC was great. But than they changed their route and transformed it in a quasi Shooter and it failed.

An action heavy shooter sold better than a psychological horror game that was story intense? Hmm that is surprising.

WTF is wrong with you coolbeans?
I'm merely pointing out facts. 2mil is nothing to brag about especially when its split across 3 games. Xbox 360 exclusives are known to sell millions and millions. This game breaks the mold and I am pointing this out.

oh and WTF do PS3 exclusives in 2007 have to do with anything? Did we travel back in time? If anyone is that kind of person who lives under a bridge, it's you.
