Sega was not in a good position in 1991. Nintendo was in front and ways ahead with their Nintendo Entertainment System. Sega released the mega Drive in 1988. But in the following 3 years, no Game could beat Nintendo.

1991, in April, there was the big Bang. Sonic the Hedgehog was jumping in. Never before, a game was so fast and so colorfull. Sonic the Hedgehog avanced to the best selling Game in this Year.

Dr. Robotnik, in japan called Eggman, is catching poor animals and put them into Robocostumes. Also he had stolen the six chaos Emeralds. Now it is on Sonic, to free his animal Friends an to find all the emeralds, to save the green Island.

The Green hill Zone should be one of the most famous Sega levels of all Times. thousands of players was sitting there with wide open mouth, when they see the Graphics. The Sound is blasting in your ear and then it stays there for a long time.Mastato nakamura made a great Job into the Soundtrack.

Sonic is originally created by Naoto Oshima, and programmed by Yuji Naka, from Sonic Team.

Sonic is racing trough the Zones with full speed. Trough loopings, Jumping Feathers and waterruins. At the End of the Game, you are fighting against the Evil scientist Dr. Robotnik from Face to face.

The Chaos Emeralds are hidden in special Stages, they are look like a Labyrinth. Sonic is a Pinball into it.

Sonic can collect Rings, to be saved from dead, by being hit by an enemy. If you collect 100 Rings, Sonic gets an extra Try.

Sonic the Hedgehog is the start of the most famous Game series from Sega. In july 2010, there comes part 4.
