I'm sure MAG will have more content/maps. Absolutely positive.

Sony chose to not have a subscription fee, while still running servers for the service. That costs money, and the best way for them to keep funding the game will be to produce DLC -- which I actually think most MAG players would gladly jump on... particularly map packs and new game modes.

In that sense, MAG will be something of an "addiction subscription"... where players effectively pay a subscription fee, but get content each time they do.

You are full of it. SOme of best selling games on PS3 are FPS games. The thing is 60$ for online only game is too much, especially when you have BBC2 coming out just week or two after you. If it had good single player i know more ppl would be interested

@hunter_alien might be, but socom 4 is being made by another group in zipper. MAG keeps the team which made the game and they're working on the shadow war, improving the game. :)

MAG is unique at what it does, 256 player massive battles. So it's competetion is unclear, Battleffield, Killzone, Call of Duty, these all cater to different audience. Same with SOCOM. The scale on MAG is like no other.

I doubt that for this game 2 million LT is even possible. I would say 1.2-1.5 max. Lets dont forget, SOCOM 4 is comming, and that will kill the sales for MAG

I think I'll consider 800K it's first milestone. Alot of predictions were set there. Then comes 1M. If the game lands around 1.2-1.5, I think most will consider it a very clear success.

Got the game yesterday and loving it so far. Even though I'm not playing as the faction that I would prefer to play as. Aside from having to play as every faction for full 100%, this is the best online multiplayer on PS3 IMO.

BF:BC2 MP seems pretty shallow, compared to MAG. I doubt it'll hold up for long, for anything but casual FPS players. MAG is still #1, as far as FPS MP games go, in my book. Probably will be until at least Halo: Reach, if not longer, assuming there is DLC for it.

25 - 100 is far too little ammo for the AR, so I've respecced to the Lmg with it's slower rate of fire, better damage and nearly three times the ammo.

I'll probably pick this up when it's cheaper, I enjoyed the beta but I can't justify the price and I don't have the time with MW2 taking up a lot of my free time still and Heavy Rain, God of War 3 and Red Steel 2 coming in the not too distant future.

It'll hit 1 million in a couple of months for sure, hopefully its legs hold up now, no more drops!

If you think about modern wars 600k is actually a hige number of soldiers. The biggest army in the world is 1 million strong. With these numbers they absolutely shud not have a problem staging 256 p battles.

This game is gonna struggle to reach a million and will most likely not sell over 1.2 million lifetime. This is a major blow to Zipper. They should have focused on making a proper Socom game.

This game gave me an idea on the next Big FPS. Three Factions, The PS3 Faction, The Xbox360 Faction and the Wii Faction. It should be available for all three Platforms and play on one server where they go head to head to prove their fanboyism.

this game is a big loss...... if you own a 360 lol It marks the tip on an iceberg for online gaming. Im sure different maps will follow and down the road once serving issues for games this size become rutine, version may output at 1080p. This is history in gaming folks. I don't care what anyone says, it a SOLID game, it's fun, addicting, and the team work is awesome. The next gen of this game will be the future for FPS's and maybe other games too. Zipper and Sony pass the first hurtles with flying colours. And since Sony bought Zipper in 2006, this is new server concept is Sony's baby that can be applied to any SCEA. :) 9/10 ps I also own a 360 lol

Neo, what makes you call it a failure? I think it has done very well for just one week's numbers. The people who have actually played it say it is much better than reviewers would have you believe. Why don't you play it first and then leave your opinion? Readers who are trying to decide whether to buy the game or not (like myself) are more interested in the opinions of those who actually have something of value to say. Thanks.

Mag,the name itself will cost you a lot of money to advertise it.You should give it a good name fisrt then f***ing advertise it like crazy(the content will affect the legs and the sequel game)

Sony didn't have the money to waste on advertisement for the PS3 over the last 3 years. Thats why you didn't see it. They were loosing a few hundred bucks on each consol sold. Now that there close to breaking even they can afford to advertise

@vv888 Advertising & marketing seems to be Sony's biggest weakness now. It's a drastic change from their last two gens where they marketed the hell out of the PS2 & PS1. They seem to just be getting the picture as I've seen more PS3/PSP based commercials in the last few months than ever before for the PS3. The " it only does everything " campaign is something they should of done a long time ago.

Still though, they don't seem to assist in the marketing of Third Party games. Something that MS does still do. Which is why you see some third party games commercials end with the Xbox 360 globe " jump in ' spot. This can just be the case of MS having deeper pockets & Sony do whatever they can to save money.

Sony you're a great company,but seems (in the last 3 years)you don't understand you should bind yourself with other great things/concepts together,so your ad manager is not a genius for sure.And never quit the us market 'cause it's the biggest market on this planet at least for a very long time.

Aboveall games like this should sell at least 1mil alone in America.

@dgc1808 If you're counting all of their franchises, then their is to many to list. A lot of Sony developed IP's have sold more than MAG in its opening week.

@Mr Puggsly I mentioned further down that pre orders do not mark a guarantee sale. So no one should never predict sale numbers based on pre orders. Most of the time, the end result will not match.

I'm in EU and sofar the game is pretty balanced here, with SVER having the upper hand in sabotage, raven in aqusition and free for all domination. Arsholes should be soon distributed equally among all of the PMCs, since teamhoppers are allways trying to find the easiest faction to play for. Valor might have more green brains, Raven kids and SVER elitistic jerks. But all in all, get a team, join with them, you'll never have to listen to pricks again.

Game really isn't noob friendly. I wouldn't say i'm a noob, but i'm no ace either and its pretty damn hard to get into, keep getting fragged, i'm pleased if i come out of a game with a 1:1 kill death ratio. Hoping that as i level up i'll get better weapons and skills that will help me out.

I recommend playing with the friend grouping system. The game is 100x more fun when you and your friends play as a cohesive squad. Lone wolfing is going to get you killed, again and again, which might be the reason the game is frustrating for some.

OK let me break it down for the people who think the games crap with out even trying it and let me tell yous why this game is awesome.

First off the charactor customization is preety feckin cool and it makes you feel proud of your character.

Second the skill tier tree has an rpg feel to it and you can feel the differance in your charater after upgrading him with the skills.

3rd, come on man 256 players on a map at the one time and the game gives you the abilities to command others. On top of going around planting bombs and blowing shit up or parachuting into battle the game really gets people working as a team.

Seriously thats something a lot of FPS's fail to do but in Mag everyones talking to each other, repairing shit, healing each other and doing objectives together.

The games absolutley brilliant

@Ping_ii Pre Orders do not mark a guaranteed sale so you should never go by those numbers. Even if it is a give & take as it doesn't mark over the counter sales as well. So you can go either way with it.

@pearLy It is never smart to release a new IP the same day that a highly anticipated game releases on. Regardless if the game is a system exclusive or a multi platform game. It affects how hard a retailer will advertise the game. To give an example, the local Gamestops & Bestbuys in my area of New York City heavily marketed Mass Effect 2 but there was 1 poster for MAG & that was at Gamestop. There was nothing showing that MAG was releasing on the 26th at Bestbuy but they had plenty of Mass Effect banners & posters all over the store.

At the sale Predictions. I see a lot of bogus numbers. With the 600K + predicitons. That would make it almost near what Uncharted 2 did & to be honest, their's no way in hell that it will anywhere near what Uncharted 2 did in its first week. Uncharted 2 was a HIGHLY anticipated & well marketed game where as MAG is the complete opposite. I say 150K as the absolute most for its first week of sales.

the Hardcore Socom fanbase like myself are actually turned off that MAG is a fps rather than a tps...the reason Socom fans may switch to MAG is because of the failure of Socom Confrontation in Slant Six's hands
Although I support Zipper I will not be buying MAG, I hope they have already started on Socom 4

I'm going to beat this comment to death, "really hope there will be a MAG 2" I mean this game has a reported 1.27 in sales not including the digital sales and I played this game regularly for a year straight and there were always tons of people on. I just don't get why they just turned their back on this game it just doesn't make sense
