You know, if Japan actually participated, then this game could be some where around 1.8 - 1.9M.

So this will ultimately sell about 35% as well as the GameCube original. That is not as good as the 3DS remakes, as OoT 3D is over 50% of the original and MM 3D is already at over 55%, but is still pretty good for this type of remake. Especially since the 3DS is so much more popular than the Wii U.

A bit under tracked on here. According to the Nintendo report, as of June 30th, this game has sold 1.57 million (physical + digital). It's now August 3rd, and VG has it at just 1.39 million.

it is a nice remake... it should be an easy title to be picked by casual... 2mil it could be possible

Strong sales. 1.5 million LT with DD is guaranteed at the moment . Could it leg it out to 2 million with the new Zelda title?

@S.Peelman, but the ratio is way higher for WWHD. There's 15M 3DS vs 1.5M Wii U or 1/26 vs 1/15 attach rate.

Nintendo's new financials say 1.22m for WWHD (shipped+digital+console SE (I think)). Yeah, that's pretty decent for a remake.

This game boosted Wii U hardware sales by 77%, that is really good considering this is a remake

OoT3D at 570k vs. WWHD at 90k in Japan. Ouch. I know it's part because handhelds top home consoles there, but the difference is gigantic.

I would love to know how many digital copies (not including the bundle) this sold in the US before the retail release...
This game was on the eShop for a decent amount of time before it was finally released in stores here in the US...

is this including bundle sales? If not then digital copies of this game would be massive

pezus - I think NDP track the WiiU Bundle and the retail copy separately. VGC combined those numbers.

A couple of weeks later, and we're at #5 for a Wii U game in North America and the #83 sku in America for the year (ahead of Beyond, Pikmin 3, and Sly Cooper 4). This may not be a hit in most of the world, but it's doing well in America.

Already the 7th best-selling physical Wii U game, despite being digitally available for two weeks in some countries and being a digital bundle this last week. Say what you want about the potential success of the Wii U, but don't underestimate the perceived value of Nintendo's remakes.

Oh, and its on the Top 100 of 2013 so far in America this year, beating out a couple of Disney Infinity iterations and barely behind MGR for the 360 and DmC for the PS3.

On a personal note, as a first-time player of the game, I'm quite enjoying it so far. Who'd have thought that a big leaf would be a nice item?

With the success of wwhd hopefully nintendo will now remake/remaster twilight princess. I love that game but the textures are really bad.

And considering the uptick in Wii U sales for the last two weeks (and Nintendo Land not being boosted nearly as much), there may be digital sales upward of 50K. That Zelda bundle must have moved some copies. So my guess is that the game is closer to 200K in NA.
Message | Report
bsp77 posted 13/10/2013, 02:07
Pretty good first week numbers in NA, especially considering it is basically an enhanced port. And it boosted the Wii U nicely. Hopefully both the game and the system can now show some legs through the holidays.
