It seems like 2015 was a better year for this game than 2014.

@Ninsect - Yeah, I played Killzone and Resistance online but didn't care for them.

I like the speed and feel of CoD. It also felt the most balanced.

So I've continued to play the past few days. I finished the frustrating campaign missions, got a star on all 5 horde (Hostile) missions, did the training missions, and spent a good amount of time playing online.

It feels like this could have been something great but doesn't achieve it. This was likely rushed out for the holidays. If it had a more fleshed out single player experience this would be easy to recommend. There isn't enough single player content and its not enjoyable enough to keep coming back.

However, the multiplayer is genuinely fun. For me this is hands down the best competitive shooter on Vita and the population is still pretty active two years later.

For single player only this is a 2/5. But for single player and the multiplayer, this is a 3/5.

This game actually isn't that bad in spite of review scores. I got it recently for $10 and put a few hours into it thus far.

The campaign is basically just 10 short Spec Ops missions. I played a couple of them, they're challenging, kinda frustrating, but satisfying to complete.

The online multiplayer is where this really shines. They actually did a pretty good job at bringing CoD multiplayer to a handheld console. There seems to be plenty of people still playing online as well.

I'm content with my purchase and worth a look at $20 or less.

What these sales show is if they put a really good game behind the COD banner, it would sell very well on Vita. And it would sell Vita's. So...make a good COD Vita game!!! Declassified's sales show it is worth while to do it.

Sure it will make 1 million by end of next year. Together with AC Vita, I think Vita will get new AC soon anyways.

That's some crazy brand power for a 3/10 game to be selling this well on a handheld with a minuscule install base.

I actually think it killed the call of duty brand on the vita. Sure they got 500k sales, but all they are accomplishing with each sale is losing a customer for any future handheld call of duty they make. It's not like people who bought this are going to be excited for another CoD on the vita after this.

Kresnik posted 04/01/2013, 02:38
So, I wonder what this means for the future of Call of Duty on handhelds. Shy of 500k sales in a year for a game with a 4 month development time. Wonder if Activision will see that as "if we actually made a good game, it would sell even better", or "let's make another cheap game because it'll sell alright". Or try their luck on the 3DS' larger userbase. Knowing them, probably the middle one.

Its holding on decently, maybe the brand name is strong enough to sell it. But seriously, couldnt they have just ported Black Ops 1?

Reviews definitely hurt sales. But even if this was a great game, it wouldn't have sold great. The Vita userbase is too small and hardware is expensive.

@theshonen8899
Not a good comparison since this game was bundled......

@Mario_pana
Not everyone listens to reviews, douche. Besides this game bundles so some people prefer to get a free game over the vanilla Vita with nothing. They are the same price after all..

theshonen8899 posted 19/12/2012, 01:50
This game's sales are matching the sales of the Wii versions of Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops.

What this means is that despite getting extremely poor reviews and having a very small audience, the Vita versions of the game are still selling as well as the better reviewed CoD titles on a system with almost 100 million units sold.

Activision needs to take note: if the next CoD Vita is a good quality title, it will sell far more than any of the Wii titles.

I expect over 100K for week 2.. and AC LIB should have over 70K in sales.. and hopefully total vita sales surpass 200K for black friday week.. this game looks way better than what the reviews say

I wonder how this game will sell due to Black Friday. The big stores like Walmart and Target discounted the Vita COD bundle to $199 while Amazon and Gamestop had the Assassin's Creed bundle for $199. Will be interesting.

I was presuming the opening would be around 100k. Given the small userbase you can't really expect much. Might have good legs down the road, not many noteworthy portable shooters to choose from.

a game with a 30 odd on metacritic in the top 20 sellers of a system shows just what the call of duty name alone can do, pretty amazing...

Decent sales for a game with only a 30 meta on a supposedly "dead" platform.
Next weeks sales should be interesting.

Barozi posted 23/11/2012, 04:16
I doubt such a ratio makes sense. Console CoD games would probably win that because of it's massive sales.
But if you limit it to games with a Meta of under 60, Both Duke Nukem Forever and Kinect Star Wars would "beat" it easily.

I own it and find it pretty good, actually. Its not perfect, but it is the best hand held shooter I've every played, in terms of action (speed), control, and game dynamics. I dunno, maybe I'm stupid and have no standards, but I still enjoy playing the game. Any other owners want to way in? I would recommend that Sony sell an Android version of the Vita (with Jellybean, if you please), and move their portable catalogue over to the google play store, if they want a gazzillion sales. It wont be more than 2 years before the Android phones outpower the Vita, anyways.

The reviews for this point to a massive bomb, but will people look to reviews over the call of duty name? there is a big chance this will get a load of sales over the holidays on the name alone.

the trailer for this is scary... and not in a good way. this has to be the saving grace for vita sales in the states for the holiday season. if this bombs could be the fastest death of a great handheld in history.
