Even though we've seen better quality games this still has to be held high as one of the best ever. It saved the North American game crash almost single handedly. That's Nintendo Power for ya though

@ TheConduit : packed-in but not the only game packed-in, you had a choice, maybe not from the beginning but after a few months other games were packed-in (I think SMB3)... That's why I don't like consoles packed with a game : we can't really know how much it would have scored...

That's not Nintendo, that's the overall European market that was small (even for Sega) or maybe because of PC gaming that was strong at the time until consoles lead by the NES took off. But I remember when I was a kid, every male kids in my school had the NES with SMB1, maybe because the French market was the 3rd in the world for Nintendo at the time after US and JP...

The version i got at the time, amazing to see such weak sales of Duck Hunt in Europe -> weak sales of the double cartridge. Do they add DH sales and double cartridge or are they separate?

This game is the reason people are still playing video games outside of Japan. It saved the entire industry for us.........and to make it better, it's a game that revolutionized platforming and is still fun to this day for all ages and gender.

Nintendos Masterpiece.

No Game in History would reach this sells ever. In it´s time of beeing new in market 1985, it was the best, longest and most coloured game.

Nintendo, please bring us mario bros. 4 on Wii or DS in 2-D and with this good Sound in it.!!

I owned it until the pad broke (about 2-3 weeks after I got the system) so my dad returned it, and I saw the gold cartridge Zelda II and had to have it. So I downgraded to the 2-in-1 + Zelda II.

I think three. Acutally, level 4-2 has two different warp sections. If you skip the normal pipe and go over it (just like level 1-2) you'll find a pipe for series 5. Near the beginning though is a vine that transports you to a section and offers you series 6, 7, and 8.
