Nintendo- instead of peddling this poor shitty game as a paper mario franchise, how about doing a correct, professionally done game that had all of the great elements of Thousand Year Door and N64 game. This pile of garbage isnt even good enough to be used as a drink coaster. Message | Report |

Worst game on the Wii hands down. They had several great ideas here they never ran with. Plus the horrid wretched stage designs were atrocious. If it wasnt for such a moving sad storyline everyone could get into,,.. this game would have tanked like Color Splash is right now for Wii U. Message | Report |

@ Erik Aston Very good analysys, full ack. My favourite still has to be Mario RPG from Squaresoft... Paper Mario 1+2 were already a bit too lighthearted and shallow for my taste, but still very good. But this one is a mess, one of the very rare instances that I didn't want to finish a Mario game. I had VERY high hopes for the 2D/3D mechanic, but in the end it was more annoying than clever. Sky Render: This game launched on what was then the hottest system in history, but only had a few big games (Sports, Play, Zelda, WarioWare). And then as the legs kept going, it was selling into a much higher install base. So I would say it reaped the rewards of the goodwill accumulated by the first two games, not really that the general public thought it was the best of the series. I would say that the 2D/3D flipping aspect was explored fully within the first few levels. The RPG elements of the game were an artificial shell, and the action fights which replaced the turn-based fights of the first two games were boring and second-rate in comparison. The platforming was more solid than the action, but didn't stand up to actual platformers. So even though this one sold best, I think any future for the series involves returning, to some extent, to the roots. TTYD: 9/10 PM: 8/10 SPM: 6/10 Message | Report |

Hmm, funny how most of the anti-SPM sentiment comes from fans of previous Paper Mario games... Yet this is the version that's sold the best. Perhaps there's some truth to Yahtzee's theory that listening to the fans is the worst possible thing to do to a franchise... Message | Report |

I actually just beat it today, after a year or so sitting on my shelf. Not saying it's a bad game, it was just... different. I mean, meshing the Platforming and RPG genres (it moreso clashed than meshed imo), having an artstyle that was geometry based (and having very little to do with any Mario theme), and having a 3D shifting hook that actually proved to be not very important by the end of the game (seeing as only 1 of 4 characters could use it) created a game that didn't really know what it wanted to achieve. But it does have O'Chunks, so it has to be pretty darn awesome besides the earlier points.  Message | Report |

This game has so many neat things going on. You use the pointer, flip the world from 2d to 3d, switch players, and collect cool stuff. The game is somewhat easy but not too short. There is way too much text, even if it is funny. All and all, a must for anyone that likes to read and has a Wii. Message | Report |
