Samurai Warriors 3 (Wii) > Opinions (27)

Squeakthedragon posted 08/05/2011, 06:18
Sadly, these games are practically assassinated by western reviewers at this point, even when they're good. This and Sengoku Basara 3 are perhaps the most polished Musou games to ever get released in the west. Better than DW7 IMO. Most (not all) western reviewers give them incredibly low scores, and even misrepresent the content. They hate these games.

I got a chance to try this out at the London MCM expo last weekend. Definitely a game i can dig into, i haven't played a "Dynasty Warriors" style game since Mystic Heroes last gen.

Europe will buy a whole 2,000 copies when it comes out in two days. 25k lifetime in that region.

And yet Koei thinks this title is a failure. Go figure; this actually outperferformed its expected lifetime sales.

This game shattered it's expected lifetime sales for Japan: http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=5582. 300K is definitely a possibility at this point!!!

this is an example of how a 3rd party 'core' game can do well on the wii.

the stratagy is keep releasing the hardcore games (not one or two games and call it quit's 3rd parties) and the gamers will come. It's a numbers game.

250k!!! If this hits 300, then it will be truly awesome :)

Wow, now I'm quite surprised at the legs this title is showing! Beating the forecast set by Famitsu and showing legs... this is quite good for a 3rd party title in Japan. Gratifying, too, 'cause last year saw a lot of 3rd party titles come and go with little fanfare. This one, MH3 and, to a lesser extent, Tales of Graces, all seem to be having some staying power. The only other juggernaut the Wii has is DQX, and we all know THAT will sell well. But will there be something else just as big from a 3rd party? Only time will tell.

@Tuuli
Seeing how Samurai Warriors Katana did in the Americas it should sell about 70k-90k lifetime there. If it sell more than that; it would be considered a massive success story! The two Samurai Warrior games barely managed to hit 90k combined on the 360; the Wii version at least sold 70k on it's own.

But how well will it sell outside Japan?

Yeah definitely one of the Wii's success stories and shows the potential for quality 3rd party titles. I'd rather believe famitsu than NeoMatrix who if you follow previous posts is definitely a PS3 fanboy as he praises PS3 and rags on Wii (and I'm guessing 360) whenever he can!!! He actually believes in his old post that PS3 will outsell the Wii...now that's demented!!!

@ oni-link
aha

Well Famitsu predicted 130-160k lifetime shipment, and its already at 230k, and i'm sure shipments are at around 250-300k. This game will end up selling more than double its FW numbers which most games in japan dont do especially in this genre. So better than expected for KOEI. If it reaches 300k sales, i'll be really happy

This game sold out of it's initial shipment during it's first week according to Famitsu http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=5582. It's already beat Famitsu's total forecast expectation(and probably Koei) so this game did great. I'm sorry for all the Wii haters out there that wish the system to do bad!!! I guess they need something to blast the system since it's literally blasting the HD systems (esp PS3) into shock and awe with it's incredible console sales!!!

what abt gundam mousou, compare the PS2 versions to the PS3. ost japanese franchises are in decline, including tales, PES, and many more. Plus wait till the final numbers before we judge
