I don't know, this game hasn't gone through a holiday yet, hasn't had a price drop yet, so I definitely think 3 million is possible, and it WILL be bundled at some point too, and probably heavily bundled. And 2 to 3 million in sales IS very good, even if Sony had higher expectations. Very few games sell that many copies. Message | Report |

Poor Sales? Unreal. It'll probably do 3 million lifetime. Any other game outside of Halo and COD and that would be considered a massive success. Anyone that thought this would do Halo numbers was living in a dream world, or was setting it up to fail. I mean hell, Bioshock 360 sold similarly at this point in its life, do we consider that gamea failure?! @ameratsu that bit is mega hard, move from one side of the balcony to the other whenever you hear a rocket launch, and use the sniper rifle to kill them. once you've killed them you get a save point. then it gets really hard! Message | Report |

It's not a "sales flop," it just didn't move massive units like people were unrealistically expecting for a new IP. I think primarily due to people were just burnt out on shooters and FPS games after COD, R2, Gears, etc., came out a few months before KZ2. If you look at all the shooters that came out after the previous holiday season, ALL of them sold very poorly (Fear 2 and Riddick come to mind); KZ2 sold much better than the rest of the pack. Anyway, KZ2 should have long legs and continue to sell for a long time, because it'll remain a top-of-the-line graphical showcase for the PS3 for a long time, and it will keep attracting buyers because of how appealing it looks. I just think a lot of people might be holding back on buying this game quite yet because they're burnt out on shooters. Message | Report |

The game is a sales flop because it is not in the top 10, or even 15, of the PS3's best sellers, and it was billed as such. It's pathetic, really, since shooters should have an easier time selling due to the popularity of the genre. @Gearbox. games are not made for that many years, eventually the "production" of Killzone 2 will stop, although you can still probably find the game(e.g. Resistance 1) so "In its lifetime" means from the time the game released to the time the production stops on it, though alot of games will sit in store shelves and warehouses for a good while after that. patch 1.27 made online 10x better! controls are perfect now and air support is useful as well as joining friends. This game is bad ass. and for those who "cant get into" online, i suggest try playing the offline skirmish modes first. Message | Report |

@BMaker11, dont take VGchartz to heart, i find they are always off by a few thousand sometimes a few hundred thousand. i'd say that the game so far has sold 1.7mill global. but its certainly keep a solid 20k+-(80k-100k per month) per week global, without a doubt it will hit the 2 million mark by the end of summer. I dont think it will sell that strong this holiday since theres very strong titles coming out this holiday especially CODMW2 and UC2. if sony bundles this game then it should hit 3mill in its life time, UC1 has hit what it hit because it was bundled. It would be nice if they re-release it with all the add-ons similar to what COD4 did. However i also agree that once this holiday season comes and titles like Uncharted 2 and especially CODMW2 then not many will care if it is re-released with the add-ons or not. the game so far has maintained a constant 20k-25k+ a week global sales which is not bad, at that rate thats almost 100k a month, i think it'll continue like that until the fall once the holiday titles come out. What sony HAS to do is bundle Killzone 2+add-ons with the PS3 80gig... if they do that this holiday season then yes it stands a chance against CODMW2 and 360... Okay, let's try it this way: 1. The number of accounts online doesn't matter that much. People can make bunches of accounts on the PS3, and Killzone 2 is an online-centric game (it shows by the shorter campaign). 2. Doesn't matter, 2 months is plenty of time to finish the campaign and then play on PSN for free. 3. The multiplier thing isn't a true measurement. @cheese_man. That depends what you are comparing. Co-op mode in Resistance2 rules but the Competitive mode left me wanting more. Seemed like nothing but the Rifle and its lamo grenade launcher(1hit kill) everyone seemed to only use that weapon. Where as KZ2 only has the Competitive mode I found it alot more balanced & fun. If this maintains 35k a week for two years, or 104 weeks, it can do 3.64 million in that time. Add in holiday boosts, and this could, in theory, be a 5 million seller. The estimated costs are generally thought to be at $40m or over. Given Sony gets $20 (or slightly more) per copy, it needs to sell 2m to break even. My projections had Week 7 at 28,964, so KZ2 is actually over-performing against comparitive PS3 exclusive products. Japan is hard to read, but I have them down for around 70k across the first two weeks, then dropping off until they add between 1k and 2k weekly by weeks 9 and 10. Combined sales across all regions should then run at around 28k for another five weeks before we find out what the regular sales amount will be. Therefore, KZ2 should crack the 1.5m mark during Week 9. With future bundles possible and the kind of continued marketing Motorstorm and others have received in the past, KZ2 can still do 4.5m across the life of the product without too much of an issue. This game is superb. The SP is decent despite being unoriginal, but the MP is the best thing I've played on a console to date. GG also deserve a high commendation for post-release support. yea, this game will do better in japan then R2 because R2 you are an american soldier, KZ2 you are an ISA soldier... so it could be any race. ALSO the helghast costume had somthing to do with japan.. i read somewhere Message | Report |

bahamut ,id be suprised if the game sales more than 20.000 copies in japan may not even reach 15000 the japanese are no fans of western games.. especially first person shooter.. the fact that the hellghast design has been "inspired" by mamoru oshiis design for the kerberos panzer corps may help or hinder the sales further Message | Report |

there is 2 million accounts playing this but only 1.32 mil of the game sold.Reason why is because people are creating extra accounts and logging on with the account for 5 minutes so it appears more people played online for the week so they have a better chance of getting the top 1% weekly honour trophey Message | Report |

halo vs killzone comparisons were always going to happen,it happened the first time round till everyone was sick of it. that time Killzone just didn't live up to Halo's quality. this time though, i think GG got it bang on. this is easily the best FPS (maybe even game) this gen. Message | Report |

@blue7x7 By 'many regions' you mean 'some parts of Europe', yes? The UK has no such bundle. Nor the US. So out of nearly 600 million consumers across the two regions Killzone 2 is available in just now, about 15-20% of those have access to an official bundle. If Sony do drop the price of the PS3 (unlikely, but possible), and time that drop with a worldwide KZ2 bundle, the game sales would explode. It is early days yet. There's a lot more marketing, bundling and variants to launch yet, and Japan still haven't chipped in with their sales. Nuts on the line: I predict 52,000 units sold in Japan in the first four weeks. @dhummel You think the life of KZ2 is one year? I use comparitive analysis methods, and if Motorstorm can reach 3.6m with post-week-ten weekly sales of just 22k, then KZ2 can certainly manage it. FYI, KZ2 is currently selling through at a rate of between 2.4 and 3.2 times that of Motorstorm depending on region. Of course, MS sold many copies through hardware bundles, but who is to say SCE won't replicate that route to market and do the same again? KZ2 is still on for 4.5m without doubt, and it has a wider base of PS3s to pick from than MS ever did. Message | Report |
