World at War is one of the best FPS available for the Wii. This game is awesome even though it may not be on par with the HD version.

This is probably one of my most played Wii games so far besides Animal Crossing: City Folk.  When I first bought this game I didn't know that the co-op was limited to just one screen (no split screen co-op).  Once my friend and I were back to my place we figured that out pretty quickly.  However, my friend wasn't the best with the controls so he gladly rather just shoot then trying to figure out the controls.  The controls are a little overwhelming at first but after a few minutes they start to become easier.  Almost every single button on the Wiimote + nunchuck is used.  It may take a little longer for some to learn to use the control but it shouldn't take more than a hour to get them down decently.  The aiming is awesome with the Wiimote.  I played CoD:4 on my friends PS3 recently and I kept wish I could just point to aim (kicked his ass though first time I ever played although he only got the game a few days before).

I played the single player campaign first before even going to online since I wanted to master the controls first.  The single player story is divided into a Russian and American campaign.  The missions are varied with sniping, tanks, and many more.  I played on regular difficulty and it still provided a decent challenge (especially the last level which even on regular difficulty turned into a grenade fest at some points).  I tried to play on the hardest difficulty and I didn't make it too far into the first level without dying every few seconds (the computer throws a ton of grenades and shoots at you like crazy).  I will probably play the 2nd hardest difficulty if I ever decide to play single player again.  There is unfortunately no zombie mode after you beat the single player game which the HD version have.

After finishing the single player campaign I then finally had enough balls to go online.  The online mode has you level up your character through weapon challenges, killing, and playing games (get more exp if you are in the game at the start and win).  While leveling you unlock new weapons and perks.  The maximum players is 8 which is lower than the HD version.  However, some people might not like the low amount of people but I find that there is probably more strategy involved with fewer people since you can run, crouch, hide, and kill people without worrying about a shitload of people attacking you at once.  There are no tanks in multiplayer mode (HD version have tanks on some levels) which doesn't really bother me.  There are a ton of different modes such as boot camp (for level 1-7, locked once you get to level 8), team deathmatch, free-for-all, hardcore team deathmatch, hardcore free-for-all, veteran and team survival. A few annoying things about multiplayer is joining games on a team that is completely getting their ass kicked (other teams has dogs) which results in a loss.  Also, sometimes people with bad lag are the host which makes it pretty much unplayable.  People uses glitches sometimes (mainly on Cliffside) and their character sometimes seems to float (only see a moving shadow, but they are actually underneath the level) and it is hard to kill them because you don't know where to shoot.  Also, the invite system is a little troublesome since someone on your friends list can send you invites and you can accidentally join them even though you didn't want to.  The button to confirm yes or no is a (which is the run button) which I use a decent amount.  So I could be running around kicking the other team ass and boom I get an invite and accidentally join (you get a loss since you exited the in progress game).  They should have made it at least double check to make sure if you wanted to join them or not (send you an invite you either say yes or no then it should ask if that is the correct selection) or they should have made it where you can ignore invites while you are playing.  One more annoying things is people that are high rank on the leaderboards duplicate their accounts so this throws off your actual ranking.  My guess is there is probably at least 200-400 high ranked accounts that are duplicated.  I wish they would either warn then ban or ban these people.

I did pretty decent at first and was pretty proud.  Online can be frustrating at times especially if you get killed a few times in a row or respawn with someone shooting at you right away.  The dogs were a little annoying at first but as time goes on you become better at finding spots that allow you to kill the dogs without dying (or limit your dying from them).  I was using the mp40 mainly which most people refer to as a noob weapon.  I eventually started using other weapons once I unlocked them from leveling up.  The FG42 was my next weapon I moved onto which is very nice weapon except it has a short ammo clip.  If you use the perk slight of hands (faster reloads) then the FG42 is a very nice weapon.  I used these weapons and more (STG44,MG42,Type 100) for awhile.  I mainly stuck to normal team deathmatch.  I was in the league that lasted a few weeks here on VGChartz and Hyperion eventually suggested that I try hardcore mode.  Ever since I went hardcore mode I hardly play on normal.  I like the increased bullet damage and the limited HUD.  The enemy can't see if you are firing at them (normal mode there is a map and when you fire your weapon then you show up on their map, only way not to show up on normal mode is to have a silencer).  One should play normal mode a decent amount before moving onto hardcore (learn the maps, get better at aiming, etc).  HC also has friendly fire on which makes you have to be a lot more careful.  People that use martyrdom often kill their teammates.  Right now I have my favorite setup as: BAR (highly looked over machinegun which is simply bad ass machinegun, love the gun sights, almost like a machinegun sniper rifle) with the perks as bouncing betty, camouflage (this way I never show up on the map in HC when enemy gets recon plane), and second chance (so I can revive teammates, also when teammates needs revived it points to where they are on map so that way it alerts to me where the enemy is, usually when teammate gets hit but kills them with handgun the enemy will come back to try and finish the guy off again which means they will funnel towards your downed ally making it more likely for you to pick them off if you post up in a good position (then revive teammate after the coast seems clear), I am getting better at killing people while I am "downed" on my second chance with my pistol (one of the last games I got about 4-5 kills with my pistol before they killed me).

Of course there are a ton of weapons to choose from.  I never really bothered with bolt action rifles and most the other rifles.  Rifle grenades are pretty annoying if someone uses them constantly.  However, I usually finish well above them in kills and score.  This game has a ton of options and customization.  Also, you can go prestige which you lose all your weapons and perks.  Prestige mode allows you to get a better rank emblem and more custom classes.  The prestige mode pretty much adds more replay value if you care to get to the highest prestige.

If you don't have a PS or 360 then this game is a must buy if you enjoy WW2 FPS games.  It is one of the best FPS available on the Wii right now.  The Conduit will probably overtake this game.  However, if you want to brush up on your Wii FPS skills before The Conduit this is a perfect game.  If you are unsure about it then I would at least suggest renting the game.

I will post my current stats (not trying to brag but just happy with my accomplishments) and post Hyperion since he is one of the best people I have played with.

As you can see Hyperion is better than me but I am pretty damn close.  I probably will fall even further behind since I am joining the Coast Guard soon.  Oh well, the main point is that I have played this game a shitload online and offline and that it is definitely worth the purchase.

shame to see that between treyarch and IW (mostly IW), the COD series never reached its' full potential on Wii. Sales could have been growing if they only kept up with putting MW out the same time as other systems, DLC, MW2, equal promotion etc.
