Jimmy Page Warming To Music Games - News

by VGChartz Staff , posted on 23 January 2010 / 4,301 Views

First off, nobody comment that they don't know who Jimmy Page is. Google it, or keep reading, but don't insult rock music like that.

Jimmy has always been very adamant about his negative opinion of music games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. In a radio interview this morning, he was singing a different tune.

“It’s always a possibility that someone who’s playing those games may well want to actually take the step on their own. Or maybe they’re already playing guitar and they play that rock game," Page continued, "Y’know, it’s a fun thing to do, you get an understanding of the timing of music, with that you can have fun with on it. I think the most important thing is that with an instrument, you should just really have fun with it and enjoy it.”

The longer these games are out and the more they expand in features, content, and quality; the more bands are hopping on board. The presence of genuine and very respected bands on those games like Metallica, The Beatles, Tool, and The Rolling Stones have helped cement music games as a viable and respected venue.

If Jimmy gives in and we do finally see Led Zeppelin in a music game; not only will we see one helluva bidding war between Harmonix and Neversoft, but don't expect the music to be easy.

“You think of the drum part that John Bonham did on Led Zeppelin’s first track on the first album, ‘Good Times Bad Times,’” says Page. “How many drummers in the world can play that part, let alone on Christmas morning?”

Not a confirmation of Zep in a music game, but more substantial than a rumor. That's enough to get me excited.

ChichiriMuyo says:
You talk about insulting rock and don't give the Beatles their proper due (as pointed out by BlueRabbit17). Right...

Regardless, the only Zepppelin song any GH/RB fan wants to play is Stairway to Heaven anyway, and we can stand to miss out on just one song.

Please don't insult Led Zeppelin like that. Just because they may not be your cup of tea does not mean everyone feels that way. They have been sampled by so many artists, you have probably listened to a lot of their music and never even known it. Just to name a few artists who have sampled their music for their own songs: Eminem, Beastie Boys (multiple times), Dr. Dre, Fort Minor, I could keep going. That's not counting all the artists that have outright covered their work.

Jimmy's change of heart towards music games like RB/GH is easily explained... he probably took one look at The Beatles Rock Band and thought to himself... KA-CHING!!!!

I'm not really that big a fan of Zep's music though... personally I'd be ecstatic if bands like Pink Floyd or Iron Maiden got their own RB/GH game, so much win right there!

greatest? never heard of them, but anyway, there's no "greatest" in music, all is about tastes.

tio_coyote (on 23 January 2010)

not a big Zep fan, i like some of their stuff, but imho there are much better bands out there. The truth is that they are overhyped by some supposed rock experts and everyone now says they are the greatest, thats so subjective.

They should just ask the people who really wrote the zepplin songs for permission.

yeah he played with Puff Daddy but he was in Led Zeppelin! ZEPPELIN!!! one bad song can't tarnish this guy.
too bad he's warming up to these games when everyone else is becoming sour towards them

That would be a fun and hopefully difficult game. The Beatles was too easy for me, although its my favorite!

Led Zeppelin: Rock Band

Words cannot describe how much awesome those 4 words put together would be. Zep songs are literally screaming for a dedicated RB game, just imagine playing Stairway to Heaven, Heartbreaker, Rock and Roll, Good Times Bad Times, Kashmir...

Far too much win to be true, and yet....

Why would their be a bidding war between Activision and Neversoft? Woulsnt it be Activision v EA/MTV Games or Neversoft v Harmonix?
