Saudi Arabia's PIF Reportedly Weighing Merging Electronic Arts With Savvy Games - News

Video game publisher and developer Electronic Arts (EA) was officially acquired by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners, known as the Consortium, in August and now changes are being weighed by the PIF.
People familiar with the matter that remained anonymous have told Bloomberg the PIF is weighing plans to merge EA with Savvy Games. This would create one of the biggest video game companies in the world.
No final decision has been made and a deal wouldn't happen until after Savvy completes its $6 billion acquisition of Chinese mobile gaming business Moonton.
Any merger would require to be approved by regulators and one this large would be under scrutiny. Microsoft's nearly $70 billion deal to acquire Activision Blizzard was initially blocked before it was finally approved.
Savvy Games was founded in November 2001 and is based in Saudi Arabia. It is a private company backed by the PIF. Over the last several years it has acquired mobile publisher Scopely for $4.9 billion and Pokemon Go developer Niantic for $3.5 billion.
