Shovel Knight Developer is in a 'Make or Break' Moment - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 02 December 2025 / 1,102 ViewsYacht Club Games, best known for developing Shovel Knight, is in a "make or break" moment as it needs its next title, Mina the Hollower, to be a hit.
This is according to Yacht Club Games Co-Founder and Studio Director Sean Velasco in an interview with Bloomberg.
Mina the Hollower was originally set to launch on October 31 of this year, however, it was delayed a few weeks beforehand with no new release date give.

"It’s make-or-break for sure," said Velasco. "If we sold 500,000 copies, then we would be golden. If we sold even 200,000, that would be really, really great. If we sold, like, 100,000, that’s not so good."
Marketing Director Celia Schilling added, "Your company is only as strong as your last game."
Mina the Hollower is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.

But it has taken them far too long to get a new game out
After the critical and commerial success of Shovel Knight, I don't see how this title doesn't do at least 200,000 unless it's universally panned, ships with malware and the studio heads are all outed as PDF files. More than half a million lifetime is very plausible.
PDF files?
OH NO NOT THE PDF FILES! WILL SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
Trump's been protecting PDF files, which makes sense because he's one himself.
