It would've been nice if Xbox had managed to hit a million units in Japan this gen but that's clearly not happening now
it's not so impossible. It's about 300k short. It can do it in 3 more years.
I mean, it's not impossible but based on the current rate of sales, I'm definitely not holding my breath lol
Yes, last year they only sold 117k in Japan and they have to sell another 343k in the years after to reach the million mark.
So even if they had no drop in sales at all from now on it would still take them till the end of 2027 to reach a million, but it's going to keep dropping. They will never reach 1m.
Exactly, and we also don't know how long it's going to be sold after the next Xbox releases.
Xbox One had millions sold after its November 2020 discontinuation (which wasn't confirmed until early 2022). If Series gets discontinued right as Xbox 5 launches, there's almost no way its remaining stock will make much of a splash globally, and almost no chance in Japan.
According to VGChartz, XB1 sold 120k for 2021 + 2022 worldwide and almost 800k in November + December of 2020. So something like 900k in total from November 2020 until discontinuation. Not even a million (again that is worldwide data). If the next Xbox launch next year for real, then I agree, 1M is far. But I think there is a chance they can wait till 2027 or 2028, in which case I can see XBSX making 1M in japan.
I agree it is possible but only if they keep selling it in Japan for at least 3 more years.
needs one or more of the following remake, remaster or sequel to hit a million plus
blue dragon
lost odyssey
infinite Undiscovery
the last remanent
I'd love to get any one of those games but I can't see any of them happening. Never say never though!
me too
Lol. This was supposed to be where Xbox turned things arond in Japan and actually became a contender.
contender to who?
Nintendo? never happen!
Sony? maybe if all went well 75/25?
Series was on track to hit over a million in Japan. It's not happening anymore unless Microsoft is willing to cut the price permanently. I don't even know if that's enough with Xbox 5 tracking for Holiday 2026 right now.
