2.6m gap globally.
That's still pretty close taking into account how much more expensive the PS5 eco-system is compared to PS4. And how much the sales had suffered at release and for 1½ yrs after.
I still believe PS5 is able to catch up to PS4.
Imo PS5 will pass PS4 for good next Christmas, with GTA6 coming out and a year that should be more filled when it comes to Playstation first party games
I don't know why you got thumbs down. IF GTA 6 releases in 2025 it will blast past it.
The impact on hardware sales of GTA 5 for PS3 lasted only for a couple of weeks and weren't bigger than holiday / black friday sales (180% increase of sales in first week, 70% in second week, 30% in third week). GTA 6 won't be PS5 exclusive game neither, so I don't see how it can be the savior of PS5 in the long run.
1- GTA 5 is not GTA6.
2- PS3 is not PS5
I know what you're trying to say, but it's like saying GTA3 won't sell millions of PS2's because GTA2 on PS1 didn't sell millions of PS1's. Different Sony console with a different GTA game created a spectacularly different result. Honestly it just sounds like you don't like PS5 and or GTA and are just looking for any reason you can to say it won't achieve much better than how GTA5 did on PS3
Then what are the reasons why GTA 6 will achieve much better than how GTA 5 did? In the end it's all speculative. Even the hardware install base should be about the same when the game launches on PS5. Don't get me wrong, I think GTA 6 will boost hardware sales, but I can't image that it will be the game changer like Kinect or PS Move to long-term breathe in new life in an "old" hardware. We have to wait how PS5 Pro performs, but I don't think that its price tag has mass appeal. Keep in mind that it's not carved in stone that GTA 6 will be released next year. Big games usually get delayed.
