yeah, but I remember nobody had faith in Nintendo Switch, a lot of media saw it as the "Next Nintendo Flop". On the other hand, PS5 was or is the most wanted console to date, and it has the success of PS4 on its back.

You do realize that the Switch OLED model costs almost twice as much as the Switch Lite, released a little over two years later, yet it has already surpassed the Switch Lite in shipments, right? That means that the vast majority of people are choosing to pay $300 or more to game on the Switch. Also, by July 2020, when the Switch was 41 months old, the Switch Lite had only been available for 10 months, whereas the PS5 Digital Edition was available throughout the entire 41 months of this gap chart. Finally, Sony increased the price of the PS5 Digital Edition from $400 to $450 three years after launch. Context matters.

lol Price tags don't mean anything. There are graphs comparing DS and Switch and the DS was clearly cheaper than the Switch, and that doesn't mean they shouldn't be compared

Lite kinda flopped and OLED is taking over rn. So the average price spent for a model would be higher than the regual Switch price which contained it's full value for 8 years while PS5 had to be heavily discounted in Europe to try and reach their FY target.

One could likewise argue it’s unfair to compare in the other direction as switch is sold at a higher price point than cost of manufacturing (decreasing sales) and PS5 has had a loss per console (increasing sales). Arguably you get more for your money when buying a PS5 removing all other factors.

Also saying it’s unfair makes basically all sales comparisons invalid as different periods of time across the globe have differing conditions. Should one count household penetration and keep purchasing power in markets where the console is sold instead to compare with old consoles? Should one just count revenue and adjust to inflation? Maybe profits or share of the gaming market? How should one parse discounts?

I can see your point but there are a multitude of other points that are also valid and comparing sales is just one of the simplest points of comparison (and what this place generally tracks)
