The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S both launched in November 2020. The PlayStation 5 launched November 12, 2020 in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, and the rest of the world on November 19, 2020. The Xbox Series X|S launched worldwide on November 10, 2020.

February 2023 is the 28th month the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 5 when compared to the aligned launch of the Xbox Series X|S by 1.24 million units.
In the last 12 months, the PlayStation 5 has outsold the Xbox Series X|S by 6.81 million units. The PlayStation 5 is currently ahead by 12.68 million units.
The PlayStation 5 has sold 33.54 million units in 28 months, while the Xbox Series X|S sold 20.86 million units. The PlayStation 5 has a 61.7 percent marketshare (+2.0% year-over-year), compared to 38.3 percent for the Xbox Series X|S (-2.0% year-over-year).
The PlayStation 5 is currently 4.20 million units behind of the PlayStation 4 when you align launches and the Xbox Series X|S is ahead of the Xbox One by 0.92 million units.

The gap will continue to widen, even with MS owning ABK and releasing the games they have been working on. It is just inevitable as PS is the more popular brand worldwide. Now that doesn't mean they can't try and compete with some fresh new ideas and incentives to get more people onto game pass. I wish them the best but I already have my consoles. So I'm not the one they need to convince.

The "fastest selling Xbox" claim won't probably last forever, if the gap between the X/S and One is now only 0.92 million
It will still last a while. Xbox one already on decline and Xbox 360 doesn't overtake that until around month 47th.
Series sales are on decline too, since December. Will probably go up again later this year, but the trend is down for now
