Warner Bros. CEO: Mortal Kombat 12 Launches This Year - News

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav speaking with investors during an earnings call today announced Mortal Kombat 12 is set to launch this year.

"There’s lots more to come, including the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat 12 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, games also set for release this year with ambitious launch projections," said Zaslav.

This is the first official mention of the game as Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios has yet to officially announce Mortal Kombat 12. With the game coming out later this year an official announcement should happen soon.

Jonathan Andersen, a senior production manager at NetherRealm Studios, appeared to have leaked the game last month

He posted a tweet that was quickly deleted featuring artwork and prints on his desk. However, there were also two monitors from his PC visible. There is a file on one of the monitors called "MK12_Mast" leading some to speculate MK12 stands for Mortal Kombat 12.

I thought Injustice 3 was next in line?
Injustice 2 didn't have lots of sales numbers?

It is curious. Not only did Injustice 2 release before MK11, meaning that the Injustice team should have been further along in development than the MK team, but the huge GeForce Now database leak, which has had over a dozen leaked games turn out to be real so far, had Injustice 3: Gods Will Fall releasing a year before MK12 as I recall. Maybe development got rebooted or possibly even cancelled?

DC is going through a lot of turmoil right now. Maybe they're holding off on Injustice until they figure out what they're doing with DC.

This year? Ed's recent tweet was kinda tongue in cheek too. Anyway looking forward to what the guys have to offer, just hope it's filled with less grind than 11.

Thanks to Discovery, they could also include Josh Duggar, Honey Boo-Boo, the 7 Little Johnstons, rotating fighters from 90-Day Fiancé, MILF Manor, and Dr. Pimple Popper. Come to think of it, DPP would fit right in.

Considering this game is being developed under the guy who greenlit Velma I have low expectations for this.

Oh, come on. Zaslav has brought us years of intellectually stimulating educational TV. Without him, most of us would never know about the Quiverfull movement and Bill Gothard, not to mention the Sister Wives. He deserves a mulligan for Velma.
