The charts include comparisons between the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, as well as with older platforms. There are articles based on our worldwide estimates, as well as the US, Europe, and Japan.
This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
The Xbox Series X|S launched in November 2020, while the Xbox One launched in November 2013. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do lineup.

September 2021 is the 11th month the Xbox Series X|S has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the Xbox Series X|S when compared to the aligned launch of the Xbox One by 31,811 units. The Xbox Series X|S is currently ahead by 1.67 million units.
The Xbox Series X|S has sold 7.61 million units in 11 months, while the Xbox One sold 5.94 million units. Month 11 for the Xbox Series X|S is September 2021 and for the Xbox One is September 2014.
The Xbox One did not reach current Xbox Series X|S sales until month 13 when it sold 8.38 million units.
The Xbox One crossed 10 million units sold in month 14, 20 million in month 30, and 30 million in month 48. The Xbox One has sold 50.42 million units to date.

Xbox seems to be doing many things right this time so I'm expecting the difference to be larger in the future. I certainly hope so as a consumer, as I want more people to back Microsoft's strategy and vision. Xbox's audience should diversify enough to get as many amazing experiences in their ecosystem as possible. I wouldn't want to see many 3rd party exclusives not landing in Series consoles.
