March 2020 is the 74th month of the PlayStation 4 being on sale in Japan. The gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 3 by 142,851 units in the last month and in favor of the PlayStation 3 by 307,584 units in the last 12 months. The PlayStation 4 currently leads by just 41,230 units.
The PlayStation 3 launched in November 2006, while the PlayStation 4 launched in February 2014. The PlayStation 4 has sold 8.94 million units, while its predecessor the PlayStation 3 sold 8.90 million units.
The PS3 sold 10.47 million units lifetime in Japan. The PS4 needs to sell another 1.53 million units to outsell the PS3.

You didn't read it right. The gap is 41k and the ps3 is in the holidays. FF7 won't even be enough to stop the ps3 from taking the lead next month
