Wow, Japan really loves Switch.
Japan is doing its part
I don't think Switch has the stocks to end this race this month due to the Coronavirus, but next month it will be over for sure.
0.47 mil would be a hefty sum even without stock issues. I don't believe the Switch has pulled numbers like that outside the holiday season except perhaps when the Lite launched. Of course if any month could pull it off, it would be the one with Animal Crossing. A shame we won't get to see how strong the numbers potentially could have been.
Before the Coronavirus the Switch was pulling 80k+ per week, and with Animal crossing releasing, while barely, it could have done it.
Is there a Switch vs DS in Japan chart?
DS vs pretty much anything in Japan is a slaugther and as far as I know the 3DS is still ahead of the Switch launch aligned by quite a bit so that might be the more relevant one to look at for now. Not saying it couldn't be interesting though.
That 0.47m in one month suddenly seems very doable all of a sudden! 392k this week alone!
Yep, it's over the Wii now in fact! Really didn't expect that many switches to even be in stock, but Nintendo pulled a magic trick and made it happen.
