The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

PSV Total Sales: 14,735,565
In the latest month the Wii U fell behind the PlayStation Vita by another 12,455 units. In the last 12 months the Wii U has closed the gap by 213,681 units. The PlayStation Vita currently leads by 1.09 million units.
The PlayStation Vita first launched in December 2011, while the Wii U launched in November 2012. The PlayStation Vita has sold 14.74 million units, while the Wii U has sold 13.65 million units.
With the release of the Nintendo Switch in March 2017 it is now looking more unlikely the Wii U will catch up to the PlayStation Vita.

The vita has avoided the wooden spoon. It won't finish last this generation. It probably has another million sales or so left too.
Man, the sales of the Wii U and PS Vita are very close to each other.
And they will keep being "close" as they don't sell at all, lol
Remember the time when people said Wii U would outsell PS Vita? lol
Remember the last time when PSVita numbers on VGC were reliable? lol You know Vita is hevily overtracked (+1m) and probably behind WiiU despite being released before ;)
To be fair, after november 2015 the WiiU had a really good chance to outsell the Vita. The lack of any really meaningful release for the WiiU killed the momentum needed to outsell the Vita. That and the BotW delay.
